Summary
“Hey, you,” says Galo, half-lidded, over his bare shoulder, wearing naught but sweatpants in the little kitchen that backs onto the bedroom and bathroom. His hair is unstyled, pouring loose over one ear in a blue waterfall. Coffee’s brewing. Always sounds to Lio like someone pissing slowly into a container, but fortunately it smells a hell of a lot better.
Lio’s mind jump-cuts to the memory of Galo on one knee, low-lidded like he is now, nuzzling Lio’s hand with intent. His hand rushes with sensation like he’s just withdrawn it from a bucket of ice.

Lio learns—with Galo's rather more experienced help—that actually it's okay to Desire Things, even if those things might seem overwhelming at first.

“You’re so beautiful,” Zagreus whispers as if it’s a confession. He’s breathless with the truth of it. He kisses Than’s jaw before finding his lips. His skin thrills beneath Than’s touch. His heart lurches. “I—Than… you were just so beautiful.”
Speaking it doesn’t ease the pain; his chest feels as if it will crack, sending the love multiplying within him spilling forth, but such sublime suffering it is.

Summary
The Burnish have few leaders, and so many duties fall to the leader of Mad Burnish simply because there's no one else to do them. Lio takes them seriously, each and every one, and so the Burnish continue to come to him even after the world changes again.
One of those duties is to perform weddings.

The Burning Rescue firehouse is turning into the place to go if you need to speak on behalf of the Burnish. There’s lockers cleared out for the files, tables pushed together into a tiny office. Ignis brought Lio a tablet computer on the fourth day, said “Government issue,” and dropped a taped-up charger next to it. The building hasn’t run out of coffee yet.
They’re all right, these firemen.

Summary
When they first talked about this, awkward and stumbling and theoretical both, Galo talked about it mostly as pain and adrenaline, as the same excited rush he chases in the rest of his life. Lio knows, though, because he's not an ignorant jackass, that there's also a part of Galo's wide-open heart that is longing and soft, that only wants to know what to do and to do it and to be told that he's good.

"Why are you avoiding me?"
"I'm not avoiding you," Galo said unconvincingly. The harsh fluorescent lighting of the stairwell made the dark circles under his eyes more pronounced. He looked Lio up and down, then quickly away. "You should put on some pants."
"Don't avoid my question about you avoiding me," Lio said, knowing full well that he was more of a threat to Galo while clad in just his boxers and an over-sized t-shirt than he would be while fully dressed. Galo tried to sidestep him but Lio stuck out his leg and braced his bare foot against the wall, blocking the way forward. "We can have this conversation here or in your apartment, but you're not getting away from me."

Summary
Lio’s favourite moment of the day was waiting for the lights to change on the corner of Azalea Parade and Central Avenue. Every morning there would be new arrangements in the windows; elaborate bouquets of white lilies and eucalyptus, explosions of multi-coloured roses or simple poseys of daisies. Those flowers were a small bright point in an otherwise humdrum day.
Sometimes, if Lio was very lucky, he’d catch the florist as he laid out his displays. He was quite young to be managing a shop, with bright eyes and unmistakable energy. His smile could run a city block. Lio had run into him once at the local supermarket and had a short, funny conversation with him about pineapples.
He was beautiful. Lio wanted, very badly, to talk to him. And he would have, were it not for the cat.
In which Lio Fotia is a humble punk who works at JB Hifi and knows no fear (except for one).

Summary
As the flame flickered to life, Galo could see just how bright the designs on the lantern’s exterior were––the same iridescent shades of pink and teal that the Promare had been. He inhaled sharply at the sight, and he heard Lio's breath catch at the same time. Galo looked up and saw the way Lio was holding the lantern between his hands as if it were the most precious treasure in the world––a wistful look on his face that conveyed both childlike wonder and a deep sorrow.
A few months after Galo and Lio saved the world, Burning Rescue and Mad Burnish have joined forces to assist nearby towns with relief efforts. While visiting a rural town called Ashborne, Galo and Lio are invited by the townspeople to a lantern lighting ceremony in honor of the fallen Burnish, which causes them to reflect on all the ways in which their world is changing.

Summary
Lucia took a moment to peer over at Galo’s sketch pad. Wild lines of orange and blue flowed across the page. Anatomy was a mere suggestion compared to Lucia’s more technically proficient, lifeless illustrations. Galo’s drawing looked like it might leap off its page. She felt a burst of frustration. Why couldn’t she do that? Dozens of art classes hadn’t gotten her any closer to figuring it out.
