Summary
Cloud is a full-time student, part-time employee at Seventh Heaven. He's wrapped up in grieving the death of his mom, even after so many years, not wanting to move on and forget her. On the 9th anniversary of her death he buys her flowers. He does every year, but this year he chooses a flower shop close by. They keep running into each other - or, more accurately, Aerith keeps noticing him and going out of her way to say hello. Cloud can never turn down a conversation, even though he's not much of a talker. He never found himself very friendly, but she seems to think more of him.
[This fic is written in FIRST-PERSON; most chapters will be Cloud's POV, but there are intermittently Aerith's POV chapters!]

Cloud was raised as the princess of Midgar. He was taught to be soft, delicate, dainty, and perfect. He knew that his life was full of blessings, privilege, and comforts that most others did not receive. He felt trapped, like there was a small box to fit inside of, and he didn't feel he fit. He begins with small ventures outside of expectations set for him.
Zack is a castle guard, promoted through the ranks since he was a teenager. Now a young man, in a position he was proud of, he did everything he could to maintain it. He was good at every aspect, except keeping to himself. He loved to talk, to interact with those around him. He had a hard time keeping his mouth shut at the best of times.
So when the princess crosses his path, and there's something Zack deems worth saying, he speaks directly to her.

Cloud's been lying to his mom. She always wanted the best for him, but had been overbearing since he left for university. He told her he had a boyfriend, just to get her off his back. He figured he could maintain that lie for a few years, visit here and there on his own, make excuses for his made-up boyfriend, and then when he graduated, he could just say they broke up.
Unfortunately, this plan does not come to fruition. Instead, Cloud's mom invites Cloud and his self-invented boyfriend over for a weekend during the Summer.
He had to find someone who could pretend to be his boyfriend for a weekend - and actually convince his mom.
There was only one person he could think of that could possibly pull it off.

The shared home of three young adults, all busy with education and work, you’d think it would be in more disarray. But it was tidy, for the most part anyway. The odd stain in the rug, grease spatter in the kitchen that didn’t get wiped off the backsplash, dirty dishes piled in the sink, and small piles of clutter here and there. But the laundry was done, clothes put away, beds made, kitchen counter fairly clear, table ready to set, even their shoes were neatly tucked away.
Living with people that don’t really see the mess around them forced one of them to end up doing a lot of the minor tidying, and tasking the other two with tidying as needed to keep everything in order. They had learned from experience that it’s easy to let the house fall into disaster in a short timeframe, even just a week sometimes.

Rhinedottir had done many tests, many trials, and Albedo came the closest to perfection. In striving for god-like physicality and prowess, you can only come so close before hitting the peak of what unnatural creation can bless you with.
Though Albedo came close to being the same as the archons of Teyvat, he lacked one important feature that they all had, and that is what set him so far apart. Rhinedottir had created a homunculus that functioned like most humans. He breathed, he ate, he drank, and he slept for the most part just as humans do, even if he neglected some of these needs from time to time. He was given a strong want for new knowledge, new information, and it made him a fantastic alchemist. But what he lacked was control over his secondary sex characteristics.

Thoma had been assigned some side-jobs around the city for the day. They were important, time consuming, and time sensitive - all to keep Master Diluc safe, and allow them to continue with their main objective in the city.
Diluc had been instructed to stay in their accommodations due to the potential safety risk. Thoma was working on reestablishing said safety so they may depart without problems. Ajax had been instructed to stay with Master Diluc and keep him safe, out of trouble, out of harm’s way; to keep him in the room, and not let him out of his sight. Diluc had a history of being testy when told to stay still, but Ajax said he was up for the job. And he was. But he didn’t expect to be tested so quickly.

Summary
Diluc was an important man, in an important company. Or, that’s what they called it to avoid any skepticism, or run-ins with law enforcement. A company. Being higher-up in said company came with a considerable amount of danger, and so naturally, Diluc had two bodyguards that accompanied him most everywhere he went.
Ajax was his more forefront bodyguard. He did more of the hands-on work, telling people off if they get too close, defending when necessary. There wasn’t often a place for defending Diluc, but the odd time there was, Ajax was more than happy to oblige.
Thoma was more on the caretaking side of being Diluc’s bodyguard. He made sure Diluc didn’t forget to eat, packing things along with them just in case, booking their travels, making sure they were punctual and on-time for any meeting or event they were to attend. Usually these were not jobs for a bodyguard, but Diluc kept his list of trusted people very short, and found Thoma to be up to the task, and so he was assigned with such jobs. Besides, Ajax often had the physical protection fully covered, there was rarely a need for Thoma to step in at all.

Diluc has always been vigilant. Especially where the Knights of Favonius were not. Tonight he was out clearing a camp of hilichurls that were between the city of Mondstadt and Dawn Winery. He couldn’t be bothered to report it and wait hours on end when he could easily deal with this himself.
With each swing of his claymore, each scorching blow through flesh, he felt his insides coil. The heat crawling up his arms, sinking into his body. It wasn’t the fight itself, per se, but he wasn’t necessarily… equipped for fighting tonight. Or rather, he wasn’t planning on having to, but here he was.
