It wasn't a threat. It was a statement of fact. A promise.
Mon opened her eyes, and the fear was still there, but now it was mingled with a reckless, defiant heat. "And if I said I might be willing?" she breathed, the words tasting like treason on her tongue.

In good company and after a bit of whiskey, he would be happy to proclaim that he can start forming a diagnosis from the sound of a man's shuffle towards the door.
