Ava wiggled in her seat, scanning the new faces. One of them, an East Asian-looking girl, sat right at the end of the bench, eating quietly by herself. She was pretty.

Summary
Four years pass before Ava returns from the other realm, but for her, it feels like a lifetime. She's greeted by a different world than the one she left, which only seems fitting for the pattern of her chaotic life. The catholic church has crumbled in the aftermath of Adriel's shenanigans. Without a cause, The OCS has disbanded, too. But the bonds between badass women she met along the way don't fade as easily. Ava struggles to assimilate, having spent so long under Reya's tyrannical rule, but she finds solace in those same women. They join Ava in her search for herself, for her new normal, and, of course, for Beatrice. Along the way, she discovers that the crosses we bear don't seem all that daunting, especially when she learns to share the weight.

“Tough.” Ava said simply, seeming to sense the change in atmosphere, and took another step forward, “You’re stuck in my head, in my blood, I will not let you push me away…”
The Halo bearer was right in front of her now, so close Beatrice could feel the warmth of her body. She felt another pang low in her stomach.
The hunger was back, and it wanted Ava.
