Ian stares at his hands, abusing his lower lip, fidgets with the hem of his T-shirt as he thinks over the question that’s been haunting him for the last few weeks. Is there any chance?
“I don’t know,” he swallows hard. “I’m not sure,” he admits finally, his voice merely a whisper.
“There you go,” she concludes. “That’s not reliable. Take your family's advice. Take my advice. Cope.”
“Yeah, right,” Ian scoffs with a bitter smile. “And how exactly do I fucking cope?”

Summary
What if Mickey found out he was terminally ill while Ian was off with Monica, and when Ian broke up with him he was a bit relieved because he didn't think he could rely on Ian. So instead of Mickey going to Jail he goes to a hospice for his illness where he'll get 24/7 care. The Gallaghers/Milkoviches find out because Mickey does an interview for a fund raiser for the place he's in, telling them why it's needed, why he's there and how well they took care of him when he needed it.
PS: whoever wrote this prompt, i am sorry, you said terminal, butttt i couldn't. gotta give my baby a fighting chance over here.

“Uh, who the fuck are you?” Trevor stood from the stool, taking a step toward them and not taking his gaze off of Mickey’s arm so comfortably draped over Ian. Ian still hadn’t opened his eyes, silently willing the earth to swallow him whole, but he could hear the bitchy inflection in Trevor’s voice and knew this would not end well for anyone standing in the kitchen.
Ian finally forced himself to open his eyes. Trevor was apparently going through a repeated series of emotions, going from anger, to shock, to hurt, back around to anger. “Who. The fuck. Is this?”
"That's Mickey," Debbie finally supplied helpfully.
Frank Gallagher has, to the joy of many in Canaryville, finally shed the mortal coil, so naturally Ian leaves his boyfriend in Milwaukee for a few weeks to help Lip get his shit together in the aftermath. What could go wrong?
