Regulus’ mood is as dark as the clouds gathering outside when he pads down the hallway and into the kitchen. He expects James to be off on his usual morning run through the city, but stops in his tracks at the sight of him leaning against the counter, arms crossed and a sly grin pulling at his lips.
“James,” Regulus says, voice surprisingly steady considering what’s in front of him, “what are you wearing?”
The answer is a thousand kilowatt smile—the sort James uses to get exactly what he wants. “Don’t you like it? I wore it just for you, love.”

Now that Will’s sitting and Mike’s the one that’s standing, he looks impossibly tall. Tall and lanky, and huge. He should sit back down, Will thinks, lay back down next to Will and stay in their own secluded little bubble.
“I really want to kiss you,” Mike says, and Will’s eyes snap back up to his so violently he thinks he hears his own neck crack with the force of it.
“Don’t,” Will croaks, before his brain has even processed the words. “Don’t say that.”
“Okay,” Mike says easily, still staring. And what the actual fuck is going on? Is Will hallucinating? Is the weed making him hallucinate? “So sausage and pepperoni?”
Will stares dumbly at him. “Um - yeah. Yes.”
“Cool,” Mike replies and then just turns around and leaves Will sitting dumbly in his own room.

This wasn't something James had planned when he started college. Nor was it something he imagined would happen when he began a new semester with General Theory of Law.
It had just been a funny thing that popped into his mind and made him laugh occasionally.
Finding a professor twenty years older than you ridiculously attractive was funny.
Until he started finding him not only attractive but intelligent, shrewd, technically skilled, analytical, articulate, brilliant. And fucking attractive.
There was no denying or escaping, and he wouldn't do either if he could, since he deliberately nurtured this feeling without a trace of guilt.
And the worst part was that James firmly believed his feelings were reciprocated.

James shrugs, the idiot, “I don’t know.” His voice is weary, tired. He even looks tired, even though he’s been sleeping all day. In fact, he looks more than just a bit tired. There are deep, dark circles under his eyes, his hair is sticking up– and not in the endearing way it usually is– but simply out of control.
He’s thinner than he used to be, and his brown skin is sallow. Regulus’ eyes catch on the two massive bandages wrapping around his arms.
Jesus fuck.
Regulus had no idea James was… no. He couldn’t do this right now. He was here (and had been for some time now) to figure his own shit out. Not to worry about James’ suicidal ideations. Not to mention, he hated James. So this whole thing? It wasn’t going to work.
