The sky’s tears drench them entirely, as does each other’s blood. Scarlet defiles white fabric on both of their bodies. The rain mercilessly chills his skin, erupting it into goosebumps, but maybe it’s his arch nemesis’s lips on his that produce this effect in him. His clothed back shivers under the freezing rain, the frosty air attempts to penetrate his skin. Fire spreads through his chest, defying the sopping fabric, because it is pressed to his rival’s chest.
The only thing his beautiful rival is missing is a golden halo above his head, though his dark hair forms a more fitting one as it splays over his head onto the floor. Light kneels down to kiss the dark hair gracing the floor.

This is my favorite piece of writing posted on this website. If AO3 had a pinning feature for bookmarks, I would pin this to the very top of my page. The prose is beautiful, haunting, and tragic. I don’t like Light at all, and I don’t even ship him with Misa, but Misa’s pov here made me sympathize with her and feel what she was feeling. Every word written here is pure poetry. Gorgeous writing. Everyone needs to read this.

Summary
The death note rests on the coffee table between them. It is, there is no way around it, boring. Excessively so. It has made Kira less interesting, and for that, L resents it.
And yet, L does not feel loss.
This is a wholesome little study of Light and L being in love with each other.
