Thicker than the trunks of the kelp that surrounded them, patterned like barnacles across stone, slick and oily. It coiled lazily beneath him and stretched into the gloom—easily twice the length of his torso, maybe more.
A moray eel mer. A massive one.
They always told Kei to stay away from the kelp forest.

Kuroo had his eyes set on Tsukishima from their first practice, in more ways than one. When Kenma had told him how Tsukishima had presented not long after, he mourned briefly the fact that Tsukishima wasn’t on his own team, where he would have first dibs(and only, as far as he was concerned) on the middle blocker. Then, he had reassured himself that the training camps were soon, and that Tsukishima would continue to practice with them.
Walking into the storage room, he isn’t surprised to see Tsukishima sitting on a pile of blue mats, idly picking at his tiny claws. He doesn’t seem surprised to see Kuroo standing there.

And… if he’s being completely honest… Tetsuro is only kind of a jerk because he thinks that Tsukishima is incredibly cute when he’s arguing with him. Because Tsukishima doesn’t pay Tetsuro any attention when he’s not saying something mind-blowingly stupid.
So, he notices when Tsukishima is pulling away from this whole academic enemies thing that they have going on.
And Tetsuro hates it.
