He’s not sure why he asks. It’s been like this since they were kids. Jabber already knows why. He guesses he wonders if Zanka knows too.

One of them made eye contact with Zanka as they exited the corridor. “Nijiku,” he grunted as Zanka fixed his posture, trying to make it seem as though he was standing guard rather than eavesdropping. “Kyouka's on her way. Hold onto these for her ‘til she gets here.”
He barely had time to lift a finger before a handful of something small and metallic was dropped into his own, clinking like coins. 10 bronze rings, thrumming with a familiar energy that made Zanka bristle.
“Got it.” He spoke, but didn't make eye contact. The goon nodded.
Zanka has long accepted the fact that he'll live and die as a member of the hellguard, but when he gets put in charge of overseeing their newly captured raider Jabber Wonger, maybe he'll learn that his future has a lot more fun in store for him than that.
