His usually sharp gaze was dazed, pupils blown wide, and the tips of his ears twitched erratically. The fur along his neck and jaw looked slightly puffed, betraying the heat burning beneath it, no doubt a side effect of Burnice’s infernal brew.
And then, without thinking twice, he pulled Wise into a big, squishy hug—wrapping around him like an oversized fuzzy blanket that had decided to grow arms.
