Summary
Everyone knows a beast lives at Whitestone Castle, a beast that has stolen souls from the town for many, many years. Should the beast claim one of yours, they say, you take the compensation left on your doorstep and thank the gods it wasn't you instead.
When her brother runs afoul of the castle's monster, Vex'ahlia does the unthinkable and trades her soul for his. They look down at their hands for a moment, fingers twisting together in deep thought. Then they’re pulling their gloves off, revealing pale, half-bruised knuckles of the human variation, and their mask is dissolving, giving way to big blue-purple eyes and an achingly familiar jet-black cowlick. “Who,” says Keith Kogane, in that low-pitched rumble that makes Lance’s stomach roil in the good way—holy fuck—“is this guy you’re trying to get over?”

Summary
Lance was seven the first time his mama told him about soulmates. How you can take your soulmate's pain from them and they can take yours. On that day, Lance swore his soulmate would never have to suffer and from then on insisted on taking their every injury from them. He dutifully ignored the fact that they'd never once taken away his pain. They must have had a reason...
Keith was seven the first time he heard about soulmates. He thought it was a load of bullshit. Why the hell would someone you've never met want to take away your pain? How could he accept someone only caring about him because they were soulmates? Out of principle, he refused to ever take away his soulmate's pain.
Whoever thought the two would later meet in space and be more than a little pissed off at each other?

Summary
So, Lance has to fight five champions of an alien race to save Keith- wouldn't sound too hard if he wasn't blind from an injury at that very moment. Oh, and did he mention that if he doesn't defeat the five then Keith is given to them like some prize? Some delicious little prize that they will most likely do whatever they please with?
Left to fend for themselves, blinded and injured, two unlikely Paladins must work together to survive. Tensions get high with horrid creatures, a determined assassinator, and their growing attraction to the other.
So, both a frustrating tension and sexual one, huh? Or could you consider those the same thing?
