Kara blinks up from the food to Lena’s chest—oops—before meeting Lena’s eyes. “Save you?” she says. “Haha. What. Like, uh, like Supergirl? Or whatever?”
“No, silly,” Lena says, smiling so fondly at her that it makes Kara a little lightheaded. “As my bodyguard, of course.”
“Oh right! That’s me!” Kara grins, puffing out her chest and clicking her heels and keeping her eyeline firmly above Lena’s shoulders. “At your service, ma’am. Ready to guard your—um.” She halts. “Your… body,” she finishes, flinching.

“Supergirl?” Kara’s voice is muffled, in the middle of chewing her fries while typing. Lena sees her glance at the TV before returning to her work, one hand reaching for another bunch of fries.
“Yeah. Don’t you think she looks lonely?”
Kara shrugs. “Everybody loves her.”It's a conversation. Sometimes, that's really all it takes.

“Why does she get to touch you like that?” Kara asked when she could no longer hold the drunk-induced words back.
“Hmm?” Lena hummed, raising an eyebrow curiously as she tucked the duvet in around Kara’s heavy-limbed form, “Who gets to touch me like what?”
Kara pursed her lips, looking into the far corner of her room as she muttered darkly, “Andrea…”
Lena froze for a painful beat, and Kara was suddenly acutely aware of how her eardrums throbbed with the remnant bass of the club. Lena slowly pulled away standing up to her full height as she peered down at Kara, her expression inscrutable.
“Because she asked, because she showed interest.” Lena said eventually, the words clipped and sharp. “You’ve never even tried to touch me like that. Never given any indication that you would want to…”

Summary
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Kara has to fill in the spot of instructor of the Jumping Fitness class in her and Alex’s gym. A class, that Lena has attended for a couple of times before. Suffice it to say, Lena is dumbfounded by Kara’s looks and style to give the class - with encouraging words accompanied by a charming grin and corrections of posture with her hands.
Kara is fascinated by this shy woman who can be so confident in the next moment and decides to trust her gut that Lena might be the right person for her to get to know. She doesn’t have to work that hard, Lena is easily charmed by the buff fitness instructor and her easily given compliments and helpful gestures.

Kara holds the letter up for Alex to read. “They didn’t summon Supergirl,” she says. “They summoned Kara Danvers, freelance food critic and full-time reporter.”

This is a ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ AU. I borrowed some of my favorite lines from the movie, as well as a decent amount of the sciencey dialogue. I know the science behind the film is not really accurate, but whatever please don’t come for me. I don’t know if anyone will actually read this, but I wanted to combine one of my favorite childhood movies with my favorite ship and I had a lot of fun writing it.
