Robb swallows. Tonight, however awful it had been, had been the first time he’d felt his age in so long. He remembers hearing Theon’s voice on the phone and feeling something almost like relief. He’d answered enough drunk dials from Theon during the later years of their friendship to know the drill. As far as horrible calls go, this was far from the worst. This, at least, he could deal with.
But that initial feeling wasn’t enough to stop the bitterness that eventually spilled from Robb’s mouth through the phone. What the fuck, Theon, he remembers snarling. The thought makes him sick and angry. He’s angry all the time now, and he doesn’t know what to do with any of it.
“Theon got drunk off his ass and I had to take him home.” Robb eventually spits. “Okay? That’s what happened.”
