When he opens his eyes, it's to Steve sitting in the grass in a park. There are rays of sunlight picking out individual glints of gold in his hair, and he has a crown of daisies, lopsided over one ear.
"You've got flowers in your hair, you mook," Bucky mumbles, and leans over to straighten them. Steve's hair is very fine; it catches on the stems of the flowers, on Bucky's fingers, and he has to go carefully to avoid breaking the looped chain. His fingers are warm, and Steve sighs a little in what sounds like pleasure when Bucky strokes his hair smooth.
"This isn't real," Bucky mutters, "it's just a dream."
"It's never just a dream," Steve says solemnly, "come on, why'd you bring me here, Sleeping Beauty?"

Thirty minutes outside Berlin, Sam moves his seat backwards. He doesn’t need to, but he’s pretty damn aware of Steve’s knuckles white on the wheel, and of the way the vibrating silence in the backseat hasn’t calmed down yet. They’ve got a long drive still, and so even if provoking the Winter Soldier isn’t the smartest thing Sam’s ever done, it’s also probably not the dumbest. Something’s gotta give.

“Exactly. Did I not say the same thing to Barnes?” Tony asked rhetorically. “Were those not my exact words? I could have sworn they were, and yet.”
“Bucky’s feeding the trolls?”
“He’s throwing a goddamn seven-course troll banquet. Every time someone on Twitter asks if your relationship announcement is real, he replies. Colorfully.”
Steve opened his mouth to ask what “colorfully” meant, then caught the gleam in Tony’s eye and put two and two together. He blushed. Colorfully. “Oh.”
(Steve and Bucky announce their relationship in a very dignified press conference. Bucky then replies to every goddamn tweet asking him to confirm it with a different dirty euphemism. Things escalate from there.)
