Summary
“You might wanna stick with him.” Robby followed his line of sight, landing on Abbot across the hall as he dragged a hand over his face and lifted his eyes onto the ceiling, as if asking for strength from above.
“Who? Abbot?”
“Yes, him. I see a lot of cocky wannabe doctors coming through these doors, but he’s the first one that can actually back it up. I think he could use someone more… level-headed too. You know, to balance things out.”
“I don’t know, sir…” Robby bit his cheek hesitantly.
‘Cocky’ wasn’t beginning to cover the guy’s attitude and Robby had a feeling that next time he would need even less of a talking-into to help with whatever crazy thing Abbot would get up to.Or
Robby and Jack have a complicated history, spanning over two decades and this is just the beginning.

Summary
No day was ever easy anymore, but today was particularly hard — and yet, Robby didn’t feel half of its weight. He was more than aware that it had a lot to do with how Jack’s body heat pressed against him, how the hard muscles of his arm flexed against his own every time they moved in tandem. And above all that, it had to do with the simple fact that Jack was here.
He didn’t make Robby talk about it, he didn’t make him think about it at all. Jack allowed Robby to just exist and let it all seep out of his pores and leave his body, breath by breath.
He was beyond thankful. For tonight, for the last twenty-something years; all of it.Or
Jack hovers and Robby finds that he doesn’t mind it all that much.

Summary
“I know, I know, I’m sure he’d be perfectly polite about it. Which is why I’d rather take this to my grave, preferably along with this conversation.” Robby gave her a flat-lipped smile.
“A match made in heaven.” Dana grumbled under her breath, just loud enough for Robby not to miss a single word. She knew better than to try and persuade someone as stubborn as Abbot — at least she knew better now, after actually trying it on three separate occasions. It was his turn.
Robby gave her an inquisitive look, finally, finally seeming to latch onto some of what she has been throwing at him.
On one hand, Dana knew it wasn’t really her secret to tell. On the other hand, was it really a secret when everyone else already knew?
Fuck it.Or
Dana had it with Robby’s pining and decides to take matters into her own hands.

Summary
Jack spent the last two weeks going back and forth about bringing this up at all, telling himself that he’d do it when Robby was back from his hike and then at the next handover and then the next and the next – and now here they were.
Normally, he would’ve just gone over to Robby’s, carrying a six-pack and offering him silence until the question bubbled up on its own, but he was afraid what kind of answer he would’ve found in the privacy of a dark living room.
“I don’t know.” Robby said simply after a thoughtful pause. “Maybe.”Or
Jack asks a question that’s been bugging him for weeks without asking the one that’s been bugging him for years.

Summary
“What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were off today.” Dana’s exclamation was all the warning Robby got before he spotted the familiar silhouette approaching out of the corner of his eye.
Her confusion was clearly shared by everyone around them. To their credit, it was understandable; seeing Abbot around in the light of day usually meant trouble.
Only this time, it was a different kind of trouble.
“I am.” Though his answer was directed at Dana, Jack’s eyes were fixed on Robby. “We need to talk.”
For a split second it seemed as if everything froze around them; the people, the machines, god, even the fucking air felt solid with his presence.Or
Robby does something stupid and Jack has to exercise 110% of his patience to not just strangle him right there and then.

Summary

Summary
When Robby turns, Jack is standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe.
Neither of them speaks. Jack is staring at him in that way– the way he looked that night, twenty fucking years ago, all unreserved heat and everything unspoken.
He pushes off the doorframe and moves forward.

Summary
Your secrets don't stay hidden forever in the fishbowl that is the ER. It's only a matter of time until someone figures them out, but sometimes it takes a while to see what's hidden in plain sight.
(Five times no one figured out what's going on between Robby & Abbot, and the one time someone did)
