    Summary

Eventually Shadowheart is the first to turn away, rolling her eyes and letting out a humourless huff of laughter as she does. “You’re horrible,” she mutters.

“I’m nearly certain you started it, dear.”

They lapse back into silence, and, for some inexplicable reason, Shadowheart opts to stay. Passing the bottle of wine back and forth, the two of them observe the party quietly. It’s… oddly nice, all things considered, and Shadowheart wonders briefly if part of her likes pushing Astarion’s buttons so much simply because she also happens to enjoy his company. Shaking the thought from her mind, she decides that if she’s contemplating friendship with him, then she’s likely had enough wine for one night.

    --

Shadowheart and Astarion bond a bit over their... complicated feelings about Karlach and Tav.

    Summary

“Today I was just…” He looks away from you, as if loath to admit what he’s about to say. “Irrationally jealous.”

You poke him in the side playfully. “Well at least you can admit it.”

“Gods, what have I let you do to me?” His tone is suitably scandalized, but it’s unfortunately undercut by the look of utter fondness on his face.

“You let me love you,” you say with a shrug, and pull him closer to you for a hug, not quite ready to let him go yet.

Astarion embraces you tightly, wrapping his arms around you and tucking his face into the crook of your neck, inhaling and exhaling deeply as if letting all of his tension out. You relish the way his body relaxes against you, elated that you can offer him the comfort he so desperately needs.

“Wait - ‘anyone else’?” Astarion says abruptly, pulling away from you slightly, as if your words from earlier suddenly just registered to him. “How many more lovesick fools can we expect to run into?”
    --
Tav runs into some old flames once they finally arrive back in Baldur's Gate. Astarion, naturally, has no problem with this, at all, thanks for asking.

    Summary

Trying to steady himself, Astarion takes a deep breath in, his nose pressed closely to your skin as he drinks. Unfortunately, instead of the soft soothing scent of your skin, he's met with the bold reminder that he is not the only one you've welcomed into your bed during these late nights.

Lae'zel's scent clings possessively to your skin, and there's no doubt that you must have snuck off with her before retiring to bed tonight. It overwhelms Astarion, and he can't help but wonder how he had failed to notice before this moment, because it's now all he can taste and smell. The smell of oakmoss and leather and something otherworldly and uniquely Lae'zel, wrapped around your form as if claiming you as hers.

It ignites some instinctive feral reaction in Astarion, and he suddenly wants nothing more than to scrub every trace of her from your body, to replace it with his own scent, cover up her marks with his own. To press into the bruises she's left until you can only think of him when you're reminded of them.

    --

Astarion is jealous that Tav's been sharing their bed with Lae'zel, that's basically it.

    Summary

You can’t help the way that you’re reacting to his words, your pulse quickening and your body feeling almost uncomfortably hot. Astarion doesn’t fail to take notice, and a sly smile crosses his face. He also finally starts to move closer to you, speaking again only when he’s beside you, looking down at you with an undoubtedly hungry look on his face. “Not to mention that I've started having the most delicious dreams.”

In the back of your mind, you remark that it’s almost comforting to know that he’s also apparently been plagued with thoughts about the two of you, though you suspect his desires might be a bit different in nature.

A moment of silence passes and you reconsider the thought, because really, how different could they be?

    “What kind of dreams?”

“Certainly ones that shouldn’t be spoken aloud.”

    Summary

“You speak as if it’s such a burden to have sex with you,” he says finally, a teasing note in his voice.

“Well, it could be. I don’t know.”

He catches your chin in his hand and turns your head to ensure you’re looking at him as he replies. “I can assure you that it is not.” The sincerity in his tone and expression leave you a bit breathless, and he huffs a small laugh in response. “I can honestly say I never thought I’d have to reassure you of such a thing.” You flush deeply, both at his attention and at feeling a bit foolish for putting off this conversation for so long. “Look at that, you blush so prettily for me, how could I not want to see where else you flush with my attention. And that’s not even to mention your breathy moans, or the delicious way you beg for me. I can’t believe you were feeling neglected and deprived me of this.” He scolds you lightly, tsk-ing as he lets go of your face. “Come, let’s go to bed.”

    Summary

“Oh you’ve quite made your point,” I replied a smidge testily and swatted him lightly with the back of my hand as if to chide him, “Don’t be so crass.”

“My dear, I’m not being crass, I’m simply pointing out that you killed your wife sometime before 1894.”

“I did not kill my wife, Holmes.”

Holmes remarks on a detail in the Adventure of the Veiled Lodger.

    Summary

Holmes had found the page and had settled ever so slightly back into his seat, he did not look up, but knew that I would be watching him and waiting for his reaction. I indeed did not have to wait long for the first one. As soon as he began reading he let out a singular, sharp bark of laughter, and immediately lowered the magazine so that he could look over at me with a haughty grin.

Holmes and Watson remark on the chronology of the Adventure of Wisteria Lodge.

    Summary

In the end they had actually landed on bad romcom, and after copious amounts of pizza and candy (which they had convinced Shadowsan to bring home for them), they were indulging in a second bad romcom.

Over the course of the evening their occupation of the couch had taken many forms, and currently Ivy was resting her legs on the coffee table with a comically large bag of skittles in her lap, while Carmen was laying with her feet over the arm of the couch, and her head resting against Ivy's thigh. Every so often Ivy would get the urge to run her fingers through Carmen's hair and she had to force herself to concentrate on the movie instead.

Carmen and Ivy have a movie night (and maybe make out a bit).

    Summary

“Holmes, there’s simply not enough room - ” I moved to sit up with a sigh, but Holmes’ arm shot out from where it lay on the other side of the small bed and urged me to lay back down. Once I had done so, he retrieved his arm from across my chest, and once more moved to try and give me some more space.

    I frowned. “Holmes.”

    “Yes?”

“I should just take the floor, this is useless.” Rather than replying immediately, he, somewhat encumbered, turned to lay facing me.

    “No.”

Two times Holmes and Watson shared a bed during their travels across Europe.

    Summary

It was later in the evening, as we sat by the fire in silent contemplation, that Holmes would remind me of it again. I was sat reading a book, which I had picked up weeks before and had not yet finished, as I so rarely found myself with enough time to read it between my practice and my adventures with Holmes. The very man in question was sitting across from me, smoke billowing from his pipe, as he regarded me with mild interest. I was staunchly ignoring his gaze, trying to focus on the words on the page and failing. With a small sigh, I placed the book aside and stood up, turning away from Holmes under the guise of stoking the fire. As I placed the fire poker back in its home, and turned around to face him, Holmes finally spoke up.

“Darling, would you mind pouring me a drink?” His tone was light, and his gaze fell upon me nonchalantly, as if this were a normal request from him. Well, it was a normal request, it was the wording of it that had thrown me off. I blinked a few times, wondered if I had imagined the term of endearment, and repeated his request.

Watson accidentally calls Holmes dear and Holmes finds it very amusing.

    Summary

“I have never loved, but if I did, and if the woman I had loved had met with such an end, I might act even as our lawless lion-hunter has done. Wouldn’t you?”

    “Yes, I suppose so.”

    --

As we returned from our trip to Cornwall, I couldn’t help but ponder upon what Holmes had said to me earlier when I questioned his judgement on this, as well as on the Abbey Grange case. It was so seldom that we spoke of love and similar matters, and I simply couldn’t get it out of my head. He had indeed sounded so thoughtful and emotional for a moment, that I was nearly thrown off, and as I sat next to him now, travelling back to our Baker Street flat, I desperately wanted to bring it up again. I’ll admit it was for entirely self-indulgent reasons. A part of me had been, as of late, dancing around an idea that I hadn’t yet allowed myself to fully entertain, and as we spoke of love and devotion, I couldn’t help but step closer to it.

Holmes and Watson have a discussion about love.
