Truth was, life was boring. Kakashi couldn’t say his relationship with Gai had ended with a bang or a whimper or even ended at all. Hell, he wasn’t even sure it had ever properly started. Try as he might to fit this puzzle into an Icha Icha Romance narrative, all his mind could piece together was this: the story of a childhood friendship growing into something messy under their circumstances and then wasting away in their twenties, gradually crushed under the weight of their inadequacies.
Kakashi returns from the Land of the Waves, exhausted and triggered.
Meanwhile, Gai is satisfied with how his team is doing.
They both sign their kids up for the chuunin exams, and find themselves interacting again after months of awkward distance.

Summary
Feelings are intuitive to some, but for Gaara, they were frightening at most, and foreign, at least. Gaara would describe love to be an odd combination of both; love was like a stranger who’d broken into his life, alarming, but somehow yet to harm him.
Feelings. He held these feelings for Lee, when restless nights turned to weeks, then months, until eventually it had been years of loving Rock Lee. Completely unbeknownst to him.
These feelings had grown, and grown, and continued to grow, until he’d been left with no choice but to acknowledge what they’d become. Love. Should he fight it? Should he hope that it would somehow disappear overnight?
Or was it simply too late for him? Perhaps, it was about time for him to come clean and confess?
...or, maybe, write Lee a love letter instead?

Summary
Naruto had always been strange in other people’s eyes: too quiet, too introspective, far too trapped inside his own world.
