Jayce stopped laughing. “Did I…”
Viktor fixed his collar back to hide the blotchy red skin.
“Why didn’t you wake me?” Jayce exclaimed, reaching out to grab Viktor’s arm.
Viktor didn’t shrug Jayce off entirely, but resumed his intense interest in the discarded prototypes, “I thought you were awake,” he said quietly. His ears had turned a ghastly shade of pink, nearly mirroring the myriad of bites on his neck.

“Yeah, that’s pretty much it,” Alex shrugs, still feeling half turned on and half mortified.
“And you want my help with fingering yourself?” Henry asks, slightly incredulously.
And fucking hell, that’s exactly what he wants, even though he technically only asked for Henry’s advice, not his help actually fingering him.
“Would you help me?” Alex breathes out, the question barely a whisper.

He knelt at the window seat, poking his head out of the tower.Whatever sharp insult he had prepared for the fool of a stranger died on his tongue.
Because standing at the foot of the tower, though far away and hard to hear, was one Sylvain Jose Gautier, his childhood friend, staring up at him, a lance strapped against his back. His hair—his distinctively recognisable, stupidly bright, orange hair—stuck out like a sore thumb in the field of green grass and trees surrounding the clearing below.
And judging by the way Sylvain’s face twisted from what seemed like a confident smile into pure surprise, Felix was willing to bet that Sylvain hadn’t expected to see him either.
There's a rumour about a beautiful maiden with long hair, locked in a tower guarded by vicious dragons, awaiting her knight in shining armor.

Claude knows as much. More than anyone, he has figured out where to look to find the truth of her—which is why finding her curled up in Jeralt's former quarters isn't a surprise in the least.

Weird. Weird. Viktor had looked so pleased just a few moments ago. Almost glowing. Maybe even happy, for a split second; the sort of thing he only ever is when one of his prototypes turns out successful. Jayce had managed to land a comment smart enough to wring a laugh out of Viktor; and he'd smiled like they were having fun, but now here's that thing again. The borders, the quiet nudging, pushing him away as if he's unable to recognize it. No one else does this to him, not anymore; not when his face is on the newspapers and his name is on everyone's mouths. It's only Viktor.
"Do you hate me?" Jayce asks, before he has a chance to process which words his mouth is forming.
It feels childish, out in the open cold, spoken like that. It feels like a stupid thought.
