The words hang there, and neither of them moves. The lights hum softly around them. The table sits untouched behind them. Everything Baran built… irrelevant.
Trinity’s voice softens then, just slightly. “You’re not incapable,” she says. “But right now…you’re not okay.”
And that’s the worst thing she could’ve said.

Summary
Baran was always the caretaker in their relationship, the steady one who held everything together. And Trinity? She loved being the one who got to fall apart sometimes, knowing Baran would take care of her without a second thought.
She felt a little guilty about it, sure—enjoying the attention this much probably made her a bit spoiled—but she couldn’t help it. The moment those doe eyes glance her way with that concerned glint in them, Trinity would turn all soft and pliant, following every instruction like an obedient puppy who wanted nothing more than to make their owner happy.
That was exactly why she loved it when the roles reversed. Because now, for once, it was Baran who needed her. And oh, boy, it was a completely different story. Her wife turned into an entirely different person when she was sick. Trinity could count on one hand the number of times it had happened, which made the current situation even more entertaining to watch.

When Trinity gets the opportunity to toss her drink on an entitled man badgering a woman who clearly isn’t interested, she takes it. She doesn't think it'll be anything more than stress relief—an opportunity to let out the aggression she feels at getting stood up in a bar she can’t afford.
Trinity doesn’t think anything of it. Until she meets the woman he was bothering. Baran Al-Hashimi, beautiful, intelligent, and—inexplicably—interested. The only stipulation to their friendship is this: they can't talk about work. They agree, not knowing that they're both doctors, unaware that Baran will be Trinity's boss in just a few short months.

Baran’s car wasn’t amazingly roomy.
Trinity wasn’t exactly sure how she did it, but she managed to awkwardly position herself so she could kneel in the backseat. Her legs were shaky from the effort and her back was aching from the weird lean she had to do to reach Baran.
She definitely wasn't as flexible as she used to be.

It didn’t help that what once was a light shower became a downpour over the dance floor. Large droplets fell from the sky, lit up like crystals by the flashing lights. Red, then blue, then purple, then green.
Baran could see Santos’ hair clinging to her neck and her cheeks as she moved. She could see water droplets falling from Santos’ hands and arms as she reached up to pull Garcia down into an aggressive kiss. She could see, as hard as she tried not to focus on it, Santos’ light-colored dress start to melt and cling to her skin—how the fabric became increasingly translucent by the second.
That dress...
Or, Baran Al-Hashimi says yes to a rare night out with the PTMC ladies (+ Whitaker), but spends the whole night admiring Trinity Santos from afar.

Baran giggles, finally stepping out to the balcony and quietly closing the door behind her. “I didn’t know you smoked.”
Trinity takes a moment to decide how to answer in a way that won’t immediately run Baran off. “I, uh, yeah. Not a lot, though, I promise. And never when I’m scheduled within the next 24 hours or so.” It comes out too fast and sounds dishonest and Trinity knows she’s blown it.
“Hey, it’s okay, baby. I’m not your attending here,” she says, noticing how nervous Trinity is. “I trust you.”
The soft way Baran calls her ‘baby’ makes her head spin harder than the weed. “Okay… cool,” she grins before turning to grab the bong and bringing it in front of her. “Do you… want some?”

"It's close to 10PM, they both have work in the morning, so she's about to quit the app and turn off her phone when she sees a random post from a random person that she's sure she's never followed before.
It just says 'strapwarming'. No context, no explanation. The poster was not worth noting. Just that one word, but the effect to Baran's gut is akin to an uppercut.
The thought of a strap inside her, unmoving and unrelenting for hours, with Trinity's low groans and pants reaching her ears while she sits on top of them and doing nothing makes her feel a little insane."
