Nie Mingjue hasn’t stopped trying to kill Jin Guangyao even after swearing a vow of brotherhood. The two discreetly play a game of “who can kill the other first”.
Meanwhile, Lan Xichen thinks their vows have erased previous grievances and made the two closer.
He doesn’t like it.
What were actually attempts at Jin Guangyao’s life, Lan Xichen mistakes as some rare affection. He suspects that Nie Mingjue is trying to get close to Jin Guangyao so that he could have their youngest sworn brother to himself.
Lan Xichen tries to get in between the two and ultimately— repeatedly saves Jin Guangyao’s life… and sometimes Nie Mingjue’s.
