When Khaslana passed his memories to that bright-eyed self, he knew fully well that he would completely cease to exist this time—a permanent reprieve in exchange for his own existence.
This damnable existence written in blood-streaked tears and the sticky warmth of golden blood that could never be washed away, it deserved no less than a complete cessation—never to be heard of, mourned for, best left forgotten as a relic that dared to captivate a god.

Summary
Khaslana sucks in a breath. “Wait–”
It’s too late. Curious fingers gently stroke the base of his left wing.
Every muscle in Khaslana’s body locks up tight at once. His wing immediately twitches beneath the touch, cautious as it is, a small and uncontrollable jerk of sensitivity.
He can’t help the faint, shocked noise that leaves him, barely audible.
Phainon makes a low, intrigued sound, and adds two more of his fingers. With every digit but his thumb, he starts at the sharp tip of the base and slides up and outwards.
A great shudder wracks through his wing from base to tip, a wave that follows in the wake of Phainon’s palm, and it ricochets all the way until it returns to Khaslana’s back and shivers through the rest of him. A bright, quaking warmth begins to pool in his chest.
Oh.

Khaslana’s wings are sensitive. This is a problem until it suddenly, miraculously, isn’t.

“Khaslana,” Mydei responds, his voice hesitant as his finger finally dips down to press over the injury Khaslana had previously been hiding.
Over the startling crack in his skin.
Oh.
Khaslana’s eyes widen, his arm shooting out to grip Mydei’s wrist. Mydei offers no protest, simply staring, frozen in shock.
“You’re…breaking,” Mydei mutters, so quietly.
Khaslana screws his eyes shut.
“You weren’t supposed to see.”
Or: Khaslana trudges through millions of cycles, stealing Coreflames and losing himself all while he clings to the memories from his original Flame-Chase Journey, and of his original Mydeimos.
