Summary
Five years without any contact was a long time. The distance had built new walls on top of old wounds. They were still best friends, maybe, but did they really know each other anymore? In an ideal situation, they'd spend some time alone, maybe go on a few small adventures. Take it slow. Rediscover what drew them to each other in the first place.
But Killua had officially decided that the situation was not ideal. In fact, it was so much the opposite that he was going to have an enormous hickey on the inside of his elbow.
Because instead of taking things slow, they were pretending to make out in a closet.

Set post S1 E25, just after the Zoldyck family arc. Little bit of head canon filler/ fix it fic. Canon compliant violence and discussion of abuse.
'Killua hisses as he passes over a particularly deep lash, its edges are frayed and it cannot have been made by a regular whip. Gon’s fist clenches around the cloth, and warm water runs out between his fingers. He’s heard of such things in dark corners from cruel people, but never seen them. His next word breaks in two and he sounds far more like the child both of them are supposed to be than either of them ever do.

“Yeah,” Killua said, and smiled at him. “Okay.”
After three years apart, Gon asks Killua to come with him as he investigates a possible way to get back his Nen. Killua agrees, despite everything that remains unsaid between them. And everything goes great.Until it doesn't.

Summary
Gon wasn’t incredibly good as guessing the ages of children. He supposed the boy was no longer a toddler but only just. Stunning sapphire eyes blinked at Gon, catching the fluorescent lights overhead. The child had fluffy silver-white hair and was wearing oversized clothes that were painstakingly familiar. Gon had no idea what had happened or why, but it was abruptly clear that the little boy was Killua.
A strange nen attack reduced Killua to the age of a child and it was up to Gon to protect him while trying to get him back to normal.

Summary
In a way, Illumi is the only thing Killua can rely on. And in many other ways, relying on Illumi is like running over a crumbling cliff; you can't exactly jump off, but it's not very stable, either. But there's no one else. Father is a distant presence, mother isn't much better, and Illumi is all that's around. Illumi is all that can be around.
Killua is beholden to him first and foremost. Killua was his before he was anything else. Killua just doesn't have any other choice.

“But it’s nothing to worry about!” Alluka finished and waved her hands at Zushi, who had turned white. “It’s okay, really!”
Wing said gently, “Killua. Alluka. If there’s anyone who’s out to seek revenge, or even if its a family member-”
“It’s not like that,” Killua insisted with a grimace and Alluka nodded at his side. Killua added, "And I took care of Illumi years ago. He'd have to be crazy to attack us now."
“Then who's after you?” Zushi finally cried out, throwing his hands into the air.
Killua rolled his eyes. “It’s Gon, obviously!”

Summary
What was important came to him long before he found what he was looking for. Gon returns to Whale Island, and finds everything unchanged except for himself.
“Am I like my dad?” Gon asks. Not for the first time he thinks back on Ging; a brilliant and strange man in a scarf, with eyes forever looking to the next horizon, as if he's afraid to turn back and see the past he left behind.

“The list continues, on and on. For every instance of kindness Mito’s shown him, Killua can recall a mirror image of his family’s cruelty. He isn’t quite sure how to feel about being treated like this. Part of him wants to enjoy it, wants to pull the feelings of warmth and contentment tight around himself, like a thick blanket, and burrow deep inside of it. But another part of him wants to shout. Wants to tell Mito that she should just stop with this whole charade, that he knows she couldn’t truly want to do him all these favors, and that she shouldn’t mask the contempt and resentment Killua knows she’s feeling. And another part of him, perhaps the largest part of them all, inexplicably wants to break down and sob.”
In need of a place to lay low while the Zoldycks are looking for him, Killua comes to stay with Mito and Abe on Whale Island, and finds that the Freecss are absolutely nothing like what he’s come to expect from a family.

He knows he’s bruised and bloodied and swollen as well, but Killua looks different. What’s been done to him looks systematic and practiced, the sort of violence that knows exactly how to hurt a person most while just avoiding any really permanent injury. The sort of violence that goes on for weeks without end, until a person resigns themselves to it fully, no longer even going to the trouble to flinch. The sort of violence that isn’t meant to defend or subdue or even dominate, but is simply inflicted for the sole purpose of causing as much pain as possible."

Summary
A childhood spent in nature and with animals has done little to prepare Gon for the worst of society, but it has taught him everything there is to know about people. Animals and people aren’t so different, and all bodies seek the chance to be with things that make them feel safe and happy, and leave things that scare them. It’s why Gon hunts Ging, and why Gon wants Killua at his side for the chase.
The first time Killua Zoldyck tries to claw his throat out, Gon thinks only of how badly his hands were shaking.

Summary
The thing is, the old man never really cared about what Natsuo did in school until Shouto got into UA too — but on the first day of Natsuo’s second year, Dad fixes him with a stern frown and says, gravely, “Look after your brother.”
Natsuo’s not going to do shit. How typical of Dad to ignore him for years, keep him confined to the other side of the house where he can’t distract his masterpiece, only to reverse course now that Natsuo’s presence is convenient. He did the same thing with Fuyumi, once she took on the lion’s share of the household chores.
Besides, Shouto’s a big boy — only one and a half years younger. It’s not like Natsuo had anyone but Fuyumi making sure he got to school on time and did well enough to stay afloat when it was him in this position last year.

Or: Shouto is two years older, Natsuo is in the general studies track at UA, and things get worse before they get better.
