Her best friend, Tim, who has secretly been in love with her for longer than he could ever admit, selflessly agrees to help Lucy reconnect with Haley, knowing doing so will mean losing all hope of ever being with her, but he is sure she’ll never love him back, anyways…or so he thinks.
