Ian tries to focus solely on his lifelong goal, the only reason he's in London in the first place, but he can't get this guy out of his head. Maybe he doesn't really want to...

Summary
It's the summer of 2007 and there is something in the air in Chicago.
Ian Gallagher, the straight-laced son of billionaire Frank Gallagher, plans on using his summer to study and prepare to apply to West Point. Confident about his plans for the future, Ian works hard but seldom plays. The rich guys at his prep school do little more than bore him. He has drive and determination; but he’s lonely without a boyfriend—someone to love.
Enter skater boy Mickey Milkovich, emo hot son of South Side terror Terry Milkovich. Recently out of juvie, Mickey spends his days forced to deal drugs at the skatepark he loves. Feeling fucked for life, Mickey does whatever he needs to do to keep his abusive dad off his back and his younger sister safe. Mickey would like to have someone to love, but he doesn’t believe he is worth anyone's time.
Two worlds that should never intersect. But when Ian’s younger brother needs a chaperone to go to the skatepark, these two worlds collide.
It's a summer where Mickey and Ian learn things about themselves, each other, and what it means to be in love.

Summary
Ian’s not exactly sure how the concept of family and kids came about, but he’s not unhappy with the topic. He’s also pretty sure that a chilly afternoon in March, sitting in a Jewish cemetery isn’t the place where they’d suddenly click on the subject.

Summary
Lip Gallagher’s life is a collection of uncertainties. He’s a college dropout, yet he’s a physics teacher. He’s a South Side kid, yet he has a kitchen island. In his mind, he is both a success and a failure until the moment he has to choose. When a student named Jack—a mirror image of Lip’s own jagged past—appears in his classroom, the superposition collapses. With Mickey playing "princess" in the living room and Tami holding the line, Lip has to decide if he’s brave enough to stop pretending to be an adult and actually become one.
Or, Lip is a physics teacher who relates a little too much to one of his students.

Summary
“Are you actually suggesting what I think you’re suggesting? You think Lord Gallagher would take in two dirty teenage runaway Milkoviches out of the goodness of his heart?”
“No.” Ian says slowly. “No, I don’t think that at all.”
“So what then?”
He takes another breath. He can already feel the hostility, but he might as well finish getting it out. “You could… You and Mandy could… work for us.”
The suggestion is met with a profound silence.

Ian is the second son of Lord Francis Gallagher. Mickey is a local grubby petty criminal that steals fruit from the Gallagher’s orchard. When they meet, Ian knows he will do anything to make sure Mickey stays in his life, and he suspects Mickey feels the same. But trying to carry on a secret homosexual affair with a grumpy, emotionally immature man of significantly lower status than you is hard enough in the 1910s without abusive fathers, arranged marriages, and world wars getting in the way.
Or the Shameless / Downton Abbey crossover no one asked for.

Sometimes your bartender serves more than just drinks.
When I read the quote below from the Parallel 49 Brewing website about one of their signature beers, Jerkface 9000, I knew it was going to be Mickey’s favorite beer.
“Hey you! Yeah... I'm talking to you, buddy. How about you grab a bottle of this Mosaic hopped American wheat beer and cram it down your pie hole. Did I hurt your feelings? Too friggin' bad. When it's this good, you ain't gotta be nice about it.”For Gallavich Week 2020 Day 5: Best Friends

Summary
Ian had gotten good at palming a candy bar without Kash noticing. He’d done it so many times that he could almost convince himself Kash didn’t know, but deep down he figured the older man saw everything that moved in his store. Kash never said a word though, and when he glanced up from the counter there was always something in his eyes.
Sometimes, if Kash seemed to believe that he’d had too many snacks during his shift, the older man would tap the hard-sided black kit that Linda made Ian put up on the back counter of the Kash & Grab when he arrived, reminding him that his blood glucose meter was always there, always behind the register. A little nudge for Ian to test before he left.
Ian pretended to be annoyed by it, but the truth was he liked the attention, and he liked someone looking out for him who wasn’t Lip.
It hadn’t always been like this, and Ian could still remember, however fuzzy it was, the first time he got sick, truly sick, when he was seven.
