I decided to write this after being OUTRAGED by the number of highly problematic and abusive fanfics I see on this site! Honestly I shouldn't even post it here at all, since AO3 is complicit in LITERAL SEX TRAFFICKING and ABUSE by allowing just anyone to post whatever they want. But it's the best website for posting fic. What am I supposed to do, raise money to pay for servers and use AO3's entirely, 100% open source code to start a new site that upholds REAL MORALITY? Thunder rumbled outside as she walked down the hall of the old building to the girl's bathroom. The lights flickered overhead, and just as she reached the door leading into the restroom, lightning flashed outside, temporarily blinding Nene.
She stumbled back haphazardly, then noticed something was wrong. Through the intense and unsteady rhythm from the hail and thunder rumbling in the distance, she realized she was unable to hear the electric buzz of the fluorescents above.
There was something else as well, something nearby that sounded small and frail. It started as tiny whimpers, but as Nene stood in the hall straining to hear it better, whoever, or whatever was making the noises, was slowly getting louder. The little whines gradually morphed into choked sobs and gasps as the seconds wore on, and Nene was only getting more and more anxious.
