Jeremy flicked the lights on only to be greeted by a horrifying sight. Michael was…rotting? His skin was purple and only faintly hued a pale white like it was supposed to be. His eyes were completely black sockets with little white pupils in them. His nose was missing, instead two teardrop-shaped holes making up his nostrils. Jeremy almost screamed, but it just came out as a choked noise.
“Holy fuck, I’m sorry. You weren’t supposed to see me like this.” Michael moved aside a lock of brown hair. He still wore it in that shaggy brown mullet. “I know, I’m a hideous monster, blah, blah, blah. It’s the reason why I’m here. And why nobody was supposed to see me.”

Elena jerked to a stop with a gasp, right in the middle of the pavement. She all but pressed her face to the window, studying the snake curiously. It was quite large, even coiled as it was in its big leather armchair, and although its golden eyes appeared to be open, she could tell that it was probably snoozing. “What a beautiful creature,” Elena said to herself in a hushed, awed voice, and then made the snap decision to go inside the shop for another look.
