Her fingers itching and unsettled, filled with adrenaline, filled with a want to cup over Akane's hand on the gearstick. Her stomach jumping and turning as they pass palm trees and buildings and more palm trees so fast that Peko's mind blends the trees and buildings into one. Her heart pumped with confidence, pumped with excitement: adrenaline makes people say and do stupid things.

but yeah, this is also incredibly good! it has that extremely delicate touch required when you're having the two of them enter a romantic scene when pekoyama is still calling him young master, that balances it being steamy and in-character without raising consent issues

surprised i have not bookmarked it because there are a lot of lines from here that i think about a lot. i forgot that they were from this fic haha
this fic has one major positive and negative: it does a lot. (HOLY SHIT THIS IS ONLY 3600 WORDS??)
the positive is that since it's very well written, it dips into a lot of cool concepts in interesting ways. the limitation is that it isn't particularly focused, it's like a sprawling canvas that depicts a lot of different things rather than one singular imagebut i do not mean to be overly critical! let me repeat: the writing is good, and there are a lot of cool ideas here! i'd rather have it as it is. a veritable buffet

The line about Peko having killed for him and died for him is so metal
And it's great to see both the development and the acknowledgement of that development!! With something so indulgent, the details of how hard-fought these moments would be for them tends to be brushed over

but yeah, how exactly pekoyama got recognised for her talent has always been interesting to me, because it's ambiguous whether hope's peak scouted her in conjunction with fuyuhiko or separately. or if they were aware of her yakuza ties at all (especially considering her original ultimate, the Super High School Level Kendoka. i.e. she could have been recognised independently due to kendo competitions. Ultimate Swordswoman is more ambiguous)
all that aside, some cool imagining of what the kuzuryuu household looks like! and also nice kuzupeko fluff in the sort-of-subtext of what's going on
