“How long ago was that?”
“That was, um…” There’s a hint of fear in Ava’s eyes when she says this. Like she knows what comes next and doesn’t really want to know the answer.. Ava wouldn’t be human if she wasn’t wounded by all of this.
“That was three years ago.” Beatrice answers honestly.
Ava's eyes welled up with tears as the weight of her lost memories crushed her. Three years gone. Moments, experiences, love, all erased. Ava's heart ached, not just for the forgotten memories but for the connection she sensed with this woman. It was as if her heart recognized Beatrice, even if her mind didn't.

The more tedious and unimportant, the greater their determination to run through the night,” Caitlyn says, stepping behind the counter and reclaiming her bag. “And—shopping! I thought we’d better stock up before we found ourselves utterly bereft of food. I got your favourites, actually. I could make you dinner tonight?”
The offer hangs in the air. Caitlyn’s face is flushed, but Vi doesn’t question her. There’s no fun in trying to pry out whatever Caitlyn’s hiding; she always gives in too easily.
“Uh-huh,” Vi says.
“Right. Right. I’ll just—sorry to disturb you.”

Summary
The person - a woman, she assumes - swears again. Beatrice makes a face. Her last neighbor had been quiet, even in his death. She hadn’t noticed he was deceased until she knocked politely at his door to return his mail. And even then, the whole affair had been quick, neat, and silent.
This woman is none of those things, based on the fact that Beatrice has been dealing with this racket for what seems like hours and the various, numerous boxes spilling out into the hallway that start in front of Beatrice’s door and continue right into the next apartment. Some of them are open and most have large letters scribbled on them in marker, but no matter how she turns her head, Beatrice can’t make out any of the words.
“Hello?” she calls into the hallway, one foot still solidly in her own apartment. it’s never seemed so cramped here before now. “Excuse me?”

Summary
Beatrice is looking up, not at the sky, but at Ava, with the softest expression that Camila’s ever seen her do. Her hands are resting on Ava’s thighs to keep her steady (Ava, who’s now preoccupied with the lights and the fireworks, taking everything in).
And Beatrice, who doesn’t seem to be fazed at all that she’s carrying almost her body weight, is just content with seeing nothing if it means that Ava can see everything.
(or, based on my Tumblr post, Beatrice would definitely carry Ava on her shoulders just so she could watch the fireworks even though Ava can literally levitate and Ava will go along with it because they're idiots in love)

She has a home, a family that found her when she needed them most, and a fulfilling job keeping the bees and garden her grandparents left her as a part of her inheritance she was never supposed to receive, along with a summer farmer’s market stand out of which she sells the honey from said bees. She’s settling in for what she hopes will be her first calm summer in years until one Ava Silva shows up, a whirlwind of a girl with the brightness of the sun and the energy to match, and the quiet summer turns into something brighter than Beatrice thinks possible.

We’ve lost Mary. Flashed in Beatrice's head like a neon sign.
They had just lost Shannon, or so it felt like, and now they had lost Mary too? It wasn’t fair. None of it was right. But that was the nature of the OCS – though some small part of her had hoped that Mary would be immune to the curse of death that seemed to befall upon all of those in the Order. She should be used to it, though, the loss and grief an unceasing and sodden mass on her shoulders, but she had yet to grow accustomed to its weight.
She doubted she ever would.
Or: the missing scene set directly after Beatrice and Ava get the news that they’ve lost Mary.

“Why Switzerland? Because this is the last place I was. . . the last place I was happy, before Adriel tore the OCS and us apart.” Beatrice answered truthfully. “When I left the OCS –”
“You left the OCS?” Ava interjected, sounding surprised. “You’re not a nun anymore?”
“I. . .um,” Beatrice hesitated, unsure of what kind of answer to give her. How did she tell Ava that she was the source of her crisis of faith?
OR: After Ava passes through the Arc, Beatrice realizes just how ready she is for something entirely different. Ready to cast off the chains of a religion she’s unsure if she even believes in anymore. So, she goes back to the last place she remembers being even remotely content and Beatrice learns, slowly, that she can enjoy having a life without a job to do. Without a mission to complete. Without a fight to win. And she succeeds — until Ava returns and upends everything once again.

Finally, in the distance Ava sees what JC was talking about.
The first one is tall with cheekbones that look like they could cut glass, her long hair done in a braid. The next woman is small, with a bright smile and curls on top of her head. The next is all muscle, tattoos, and braids sticking out of a cowboy hat.
Then standing slightly off to the side is Cowboy Hat 2 with just as many muscles as Cowboy Hat 1 but no tattoos, and she looks almost shy. The first three are waving as the bus rolls to a stop and Cowboy Hat 1 nudges Cowboy Hat 2 who sheepishly waves, and oh, Ava is struck with needing to know everything about that.
