Summary
Misinformation courteousy of the papers has spread the lie of Ace’s death across the Grand Line, but while he did survive his ordeal at Marineford, it's decided that hiding his identity for the sake of training secretly is his best option.
Unfortunately, the only one skilled enough to take him on as a student is a member of the terrorist organization known as the Revolutionary Army. Ace is less than happy about the situation, but has little choice but to seek the revolutionaries out for sanctuary.
When he does find them, he in fact finds more than just a teacher.
A reunion he never thought possible, never even dared to imagine because it simply hurt too much — but he's not the only one in pain, and seeing the extent of his childhood friends suffering terrifies him.
How is he supposed to protect Sabo from the ghosts that haunt him when everyone is claiming he's forgotten ten years of his life?
How was Ace supposed to help if Sabo didn't even remember him?

His vulnerable omega side was desperate for Ace's alpha scent and that's why he wanted to growl at his brother and preferably rip the patch off but the rational part of his brain reminded him that it was safer this way and that maybe a little skin contact wasn't too bad as long as Ace wore his patches dutifully.Sabo hesitated to say yes but he wanted it.

It started with the death of the sun. He was laid to rest under a blanket of clouds, mourned under an overcast sky, and left as only a memory when the world was forced to move on. Only a hint of light through a cloudy sky reminded the world of what used to be.
Like a sunset and a new dawn, a new sun would rise. Only to be hidden away, lost in a realm of clouds and sunlight. Not many people would come to his realm. Years passed where he would busy himself, but he always yearned for something different, something new. Something had to be out there beyond the same old trees and the same old island. Day in and day out, he dreamt of what could be.
One day, two strangers came to the sun. They were boys barely older than himself. The two visitors were just as different as they were similar. One was cocky and cautious, the other friendly with a sharp smile, and, at heart, both were wild and curious. Often, the two bickered, and that was what drew the sun god's attention. He watched them quarrel from afar before his interest got the better of him and he approached.

“No, no, I'm just saying,” Ace laughs, “I mean, that’s nearly as long as you’ve known me!”
He’s not wrong. The last time Deuce had a fling was two and a half months into sailing on Ace’s crew, and he’s been in a dry spell since. Truthfully, he hasn't even been thinking about it until recently. Ace is more than enough of a handful to worry about.
Or: Deuce is straight, so he's absolutely not going to fuck his captain in the back of a club.

Izou straightens from his kneeling position to nudge Ace forward with a hand at the small of his back. Ace straightens up and glares over his shoulder, but obediently relents under the weight of Izou's firm stare. “You won’t be wearing heels, I pr—” Izou stops and amends, “—you won’t be wearing stilettos to the gala. I expect you to use that word when we arrive, by the way. They’re two different occasions.”
Ace gingerly steps into the heels and readjusts his weight to stand on the balls of his feet. “I’ll start calling it a gala when it starts looking like an apple. Remind me again why I’m wearing these?”
Or: Ace has to attend a pirate’s gala. He’s not at all looking forward to it.
