Valentine’s day had usually just been another day of the year for Sae – another day to live out his trained, mundane routine, finding solace in the tranquility that lies between the peace and quiet of his acute solitude, trying to find a way to not feel God awful for a second. And just like always, it was a day off – no hour-long practice, no intensive training, no unreachable expectations and no reminders of his own worthlessness of who he used to think he was.
