They weren’t boyfriends.
That was the rule. The unspoken agreement. The boundary they’ve never allowed themselves to cross.
So when Hansol woke up to an empty bed, the sheets beside him long cold, he didn’t allow himself to be surprised. The only evidence of their late night rendezvous was the lingering scent of orange blossom and lilac clinging to the pillow. It was a scent Hansol had come to associate with comfort and heartbreak in equal measure.

Hansol dared to look up, unable to retort something back but still—
Can’t you understand that I’m your slave ?
“No, I can’t.”
Hansol bit his lower lip hard enough to break the skin, he didn’t mean to say it aloud, didn’t mean to retort back but he just— he couldn’t keep doing it too.
“I can’t understand it Hansol, I really can’t,” He added softly, tensed shoulders relaxing with a sigh, “and I don’t think you can understand me yet too.”
He was completely right. He couldn’t understand his master at all.
Or in a world where slavery is legal and common, Seungcheol finds Hansol, a slave empty of emotions. Trusting his Instinct, he buys the man and finds himself in a mess of corruption and decides with the help of his friends to abolish slavery.
But not everything goes like he expects, especially when his own feelings starts to grow for Hansol, his broken heart seeming to be ready to heal after so many years.
