Donnie knows he isn't the same as his brothers. That isn't a problem. He's fine being different, once he accepted being different. The thing is, he isn't sure they ever accepted it. And none of his tech accomodations can change the way they think. (Well, technically they can. Donnie tried that once and it did not work out.)
But after a particularly bad fight, Donnie decides that he's done. If his brothers can't work with him, he can work alone. Being a hero is the only thing he's ever needed to be. It's certainly easier than trying to be a brother. One forced to forgive and accept mistakes that are never really resolved. Why should he move on if they never learn? They only learn the hard way, and he knows it.
So he's going to make them learn.
