“You could be a gull as well,” Sara had offered, although she could not quite see it. If Yoimiya were to be a bird, she would be something small and clever, living in a flock of brightly-coloured other birds whose plumage was never quite as vibrant as her own.
But Yoimiya had shaken her head. “I’d want to be a goldfish,” she said. “They’re very cute, and they live such simple, happy lives. People say they only have short memories, but I don’t think that’s it. I just think maybe they’re better at letting things go.”
Sara had knotted the last rope with a little more force than necessary, feeling a strange weight in the bottom of her chest. “I don’t think I would make a very good goldfish.”
Sara celebrates her birthday beneath a sky full of light.

Summary
Yoimiya absolutely loves the kids. She loves playing games with them, loves the way their eyes light up as she tells stories of the world. If she weren’t so dedicated to her craft, she’d spend all her time with them.
So it is truly with all her love that she admits that her kids are truly horrible at keeping secrets.
