She walked towards him and rested a deceivingly gentle hand on his cheek. He tried his best not to lean into it. Soft touches were rare, especially from her, and she used them to wrap him around her finger. Giving him the love he craved whenever he strayed too far. It was disgusting and humiliating that she still had that effect on him.
“Shuuji-kun, you know you can never hide from us,” she said, just like all those years ago.

The tinkle of chopsticks on bowls from Mo Ran still eating in their kitchen, sharing the meal meant for two with loneliness, pounded in Chu Wanning’s head. His stomach churned. The bedsheets pressed on him with the weight of a mountain, hot and itchy and freezing all at the same time. Every point of contact of his body with the bed was buzzing. The way his flesh indented as it lay on the bed tore at his thoughts. It was the only thing he could think of, just the skin compressing into itself.
Chu Wanning doesn’t deserve the life he has with Mo Ran. He doesn’t deserve anything at all.
