Congratulations on moving into this neighbourhood with Iwaizumi. I hope you will enjoy your stay here, and I apologise for not being able to greet you in person, as I am a very busy man.
As you might have noticed, I have also placed a pot of flowers next to your doorstep as a housewarming gift. It is a rue plant, traditionally meant to symbolise ‘regret’. I have expended great effort to procure this plant for you, as this is not a common flower you can find in your neighbourhood florist. The symbolism is entirely intentional.
I look forward to seeing you (and your boyfriend) around.

Summary
“You don’t what?” Shouyou asks.
Kageyama looks uncomfortable enough to crawl out of his skin. He rubs his knuckles against his chin, roughly, and then tells the floor, “You’re sick, and you’re sad, and I don’t want you to be either of those things.”
Shouyou blinks once, then twice. And then, embarrassingly, he bursts into tears.
They could have played for longer. They deserved to play for longer.
Shouyou doesn’t know why he expected volleyball to be fair. And it’s all the more infuriating because it is the fairest sport in the whole world. Two teams. One net. Six players on each side, none of which get to hold the ball for more than a couple seconds at a time, and those seconds mean everything.
In which Shouyou and Tobio share a meal after the world ends. Or after the match with Kamomedai. It's all a matter of semantics, really.

Kageyama is glad he did. He likes this arrangement.

Summary
For all these years, he’s been able to read Hinata so well, the only person who has ever come so naturally to him. What he’s thinking, what he really means beneath his teasing words and remarks, what he’s going to do on the court, it’s all a well-read map to Tobio. And even though Hinata is surprising by nature, breaking expectations as easy as breathing, Tobio still knows him. Hinata can take him off guard, but Tobio still knows.
It's an extremely bitter pill to swallow: the knowledge that he might, just maybe, not have all of the pieces to Hinata’s puzzle.

"Y'know, all of this!" Hinata gestures between them and the courtyard like a flailing bird, all energy and motion and no stillness in sight. Tobio has no idea what all of this is. "Third place, Yamayama, what does it mean?"
Ah. "It means someone else was better," he replies, and he's expecting Hinata's groan.
He should have expected the punch to the arm, too, but hey; he's not getting tested on predicting what Hinata's going to do next.
Tobio doesn't know what he's going to do after graduation, should've brought a warmer coat to the Spring High, and really needs to think warm thoughs if he doesn't want to freeze to death on this balcony.
At least he knows Hinata, though, and he doesn't need words to prove it.
