Summary
So close, yet so far. Almost, but never. Everyone in their tiny town had always thought that best friends Mingyu and Joshua would eventually marry. Until Joshua met his soulmate and suddenly, Mingyu couldn't be selfish anymore.
“Why did you spoil me so much that everyone now thinks I should just marry you! Why are you treating me like this, huh, Mingyu-yah? Why? Tell me! Why? Why?”
“Who else would spoil you then if not me? Your uncle and aunt? Your cousin? When they treat you like their maid?” Mingyu replied. He sighed, seeing Joshua’s sullen figure, his pout getting deeper. Mingyu kneeled in front of his friend and took his hands in his, warming them with his caresses. “Let me spoil you the way you deserve, alright, jagi? I don't want you feeling like a maid every second of your life. To me, you're a princess that needs to be spoiled, I want you to feel that way when you're with me at least.”
“You shouldn't be the one doing that to me. You're not my soulmate,” muttered Joshua innocuously, and yet that last statement pierced through Mingyu's heart, shattering the organ dissonantly that their adjoining vendors heard the sound and sympathized with him.

Free loveHearing the sounds of thwacks and clangs caught the attention of both Mingyu and Joshua. Just a few feet away from them was an unfinished house, getting steadily and accurately erected with every hammering of a nail and a wood split by a saw. A man and a woman were rearing the almost completed house and from the glinting gold bands around both of their ring fingers, Joshua surmised they were a married couple. He glanced beside him at the tall man immersed by the construction, and by the dreamy look on Mingyu's face, Joshua could tell that he wanted to mimic what he was currently witnessing.
With him.
Mingyu wanted to do it with Joshua, he wanted to build his own home with his lover.
A series of conversations that Mingyu and Joshua had about their dreams for their future, the plans they wish to achieve if only the world would be kind enough to allow them that lead Joshua to cover the song Free Love by HONNE.

“Why do you have a rose?” Joshua asked, curious.
“Oh!” Mingyu feigned surprise. “You noticed it? It’s yours now then.” Mingyu gave the rose to Joshua who was still perplexed as he received it in his hand.
“Thank you, but why do you have it?” Joshua giggled as he repeated his question.
“Oh did I forget to mention earlier? While I was walking by the beach, I saw a nice lady selling white roses. They just looked so pure and pretty, they reminded me of you so I bought one."
Gyushua being all lovey-dovey in Hawaii. Oh and that white rose from Mingyu's Instagram post was definitely for Joshua. He romanced his cute hyung all throughout their vacation.

Summary
The last fourteen months had been incredibly difficult for Joshua (and his two children). He was dealing with a dozen mixed emotions ranging from grief to anger to anxiety all while juggling a career and his two small blessings. As a single father he barely had time to think about himself, let alone anyone else. The only sense of normalcy that he got was when he was able to spend time with Jeonghan and Seungcheol, the only two that he had let stick around (they were both incredibly stubborn) after he started his new life.
He definitely wasn't expecting to rekindle some of the best friendships that he had ever had - he didnt think he had the time nor did he think they would want to. Joshua was definitely wrong when the one person that should have been the most angry with him welcomed him back with open arms and hardly any questions. Repairing ten broken friendships wasn't easy, but finding love ontop of that? He thought that was impossible and somehting that he would never even think of.
Or would he?
