She realizes then he hasn’t seen her in more than a year, and neither has she, and so before she can even think about it, her head turns itself towards him, out of mere curiosity; His cheeks weren’t overcome with a rosy tint, his gaze didn’t flicker away from hers. He didn’t offer her an awkward smile or raise his hands to shield himself out of fear or admiration. He wasn’t that type of guy anymore. He stood tall, and firm, his stance the same and yet his body radiated a sort of confidence his younger self only pretended to possess.

Summary
The world seems to still, as her vision clears and she takes in the sight of the captain—Ekko—the man who’d been hunting her for months. His knee digs into her stomach, scowl marring his pretty face. Jinx can do nothing but wait for her fate to be sealed, his heartbeat so loud in her ears it’s almost enough to mimic what would have beat in her own chest.
It takes her four full seconds to realize he’s hesitating.
The pressure on her neck lessens, and the air that flows in tastes almost as sweet as the fresh inhales of ocean water. She’s close enough to Ekko’s face to smell the heavy breaths as he exhales, close enough to see the detail in his brown eyes.
“…Powder?”

. Ekko lingers in the touch for a second, two seconds, and then he pulls away, standing up and stretching his arms over his head. He doesn't miss the way her head tilts to follow him up, pink eyes flashing dangerously as her gaze sits right where his shirt slips up with the stretch.
"No offense, but it's not exactly comfortable down here," he tells her, and then he offers a hand. "Last thing we want is for the enforcers to get you now, too."
Jinx laughs, and she takes the offered hand, squeezing hard as she drags herself back to standing. Even now, her shoulders are hunched, her hands bony and lithe as they linger even when she's on her own feet, her body swaying precariously.
"It'd be fun though," she says, tilting her head when Ekko stares at her. "Can you imagine what they'd say? Ah, oh no, that girl jumping that guy's bones looks like our precious, wanted criminal! What are we going to do?"
