He looked down at Billy, who was still seated, his arms wrapped around his midriff as if warding off a chill, and the difference in their height seemed suddenly, uncomprehendingly more pronounced. Billy, who was just a few inches shorter than Alan, had to tilt his head back further to meet his eyes, and the action exposed the slender, pale column of his neck.
The world had changed, it had shifted. Not with an explosion, but with a silent, fundamental tremor. The cracks were there, spiderwebbing through. Reality seemed to warp, to change. And as Alan stared into Billy’s wide, bewildered green eyes, feeling the sudden, strange strain of his shirt across his chest, he knew, with a certainty that was as terrifying as it was deep, that nothing would ever be the same again.
The world was changing, and they were changing along with it.Or, after Sorna Alan and Billy’s relationship is strained. Alan is angry and doesn't know how he feels about Billy. Suddenly amidst the anger, the hurt and the tension, strange things start to happen.
They are changing, the world is shifting, and their relationship will never be the same.

Summary
Standing at the edge of his bungalow and staring out at the deep jungle and rippling river, he did not know whether to feel awe or deep apprehension. He couldn't help but think of how easy it'd be to kill himself, one small misstep and he’d plunge to his death into those dark and rippling waters. It would even look like an accident. He has to wonder what his friends had been thinking by sending him here knowing he can’t swim. Thankfully for everyone it'd been a long time since Law had last tried to off himself. His suicidal teenage years were long past and now he was doing better, not great, but good enough. Not happy, but content. Still, it meant he had to be careful, accidental or not the risk of drowning was high. In the end he settled for feeling both breathless awe and fearful respect for the imposing body of water all around him.
Or tourist Law goes to the Brazilian Amazonas and meets Luffy, a local boy who's not what he seems. Unknown to him, the danger of drowning is the last of Law's problems.

Summary
And then finally there is Law of clan Trafalgar.
Law, who has gray eyes as icy as the landscape surrounding them but that shine with a warmth Smoker has never seen before, a warmth he would have thought impossible and divine, if it weren't for that Wildling's otherworldly eyes. He has eyes that are deep and burning, eyes that show every single emotion he feels as if it were written in a book. He's wild, rough, hedonistic and free, with a passion for pleasure and adventure that's exhilarating. But he's also sarcastic and cynic, jaded and burdened by life, with a viciousness and cruelty to rival a wildcat.
He calls Smoker 'pretty crow' and tells him he's a 'useless piece of shit'. He makes fun of him and laughs in his face. But he also looks at him with respect when they spar or Smoker helps with the hunting. He helps him when he struggles, shares his food and drink with him and sometimes stares at Smoker with an emotion that makes him feel warm from the inside out.
Or Alternatively, Smoker White knows nothing.

After a moment, Law sighed and looked down at the table. He honestly didn’t think he’d been that bad-tempered—or at least he hadn’t given out worse than he’d gotten from Kid, but the thing about a disappointed Bepo was that it always made him feel like an utter asshole. “Sorry. I just want to get this over with. Once we get filming, we’ll be busy enough.”
“You’re not worried about going in there, are you?” Kid asked. Bepo turned and looked at him, and he grimaced and made sullen movements with his shoulders and finally threw his head back so he was staring out the window. “Not like, you can’t be worried if that’s what you feel. Okay? I’m not being an asshole—but just, if you’re scared—”
“I don’t believe in ghosts, if that’s what you’re getting at.” Law snapped, then shut his mouth till he didn’t feel the urge to go on, in great and insulting detail. Then he opened it, put food in, and chewed.
Kid bared his teeth at him like an animal. The red lipstick made it look startingly vicious.
Or, unwilling acquaintances make a ghost hunting movie, with a lot of UST.

Summary
Trafalgar Law moved to Wano running away from a bad past and an empty but comfortable life. He was looking for peace and quiet and a fresh start. He was not looking for drama or, god forbid, romance.
Roronoa Zoro wasn't very pleased with the new strange doctor coming into his town. He's sure the man will run for the hills once he sees the harsh reality of small town life. He gives him a month at most.
Neither of them is ready for the curveball fate is about to throw at them.
The citizens of Wano are just along for the ride.

Summary
This series came about because of my misadventures while on biological expedition to the tropical jungle. I came back from that experience full of insect bites, wet to the bones and with a craving for Berlermo in the wild and in situations like the one I just went through that I really needed to satiate.
So here it is, my frustration fuelled Berlermo adventures.
For now I just have three works for this series but I just might write more. I'm on a roll and in the right mood for it.
Next up will be 'Andrés de Fonollosa and the Heart of the Jungle'.

This man is a bully. This is his first impression of Captain Paddy Mayne.
Though, that is not necessarily true.
His first, first impression is, well, that this man is slight. He’s slight, and unkempt – the latter of which he attributes to the harsh living conditions of the desert and the former of which amuses him to an extent.
Now, being the learned man that he is, he knows that looks can be deceiving, that he should be above judging a man before they’ve even spoken. And yet, nothing about Mayne strikes him as particularly threatening. And then - then the man opens his mouth and Augustin knows he's in way over his head.(or: What if Augustin stuck around and what if there's more to Paddy Mayne than his overt aggression)

Instead of bothering with a chair or stool, Luffy reached up and grabbed the edge of one blanket, giving it a firm tug. Both blankets tumbled down easily, but so did something else—a white envelope, unmarked and unsealed, fluttering to the floor.
“Huh?” Luffy blinked, tilting his head as he crouched down to pick it up. The envelope was plain, nothing written on it to indicate what it might be. Curious, he slipped a finger under the flap and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
The handwriting was neat but familiar—Law’s.

Law does not see the man approaching with the dagger until he is directly in his line of sight, when the blade is raised high above his chest and the glimmer of seastone comes down with fury, piercing through cloth and the first layer of flesh before something stops it.
He barely manages to struggle in a standing position, to make his aching body work, before arms are around him holding him close, hot skin pressed close to him, the embrace known, intimate, theirs, that he does not need to turn around to see who it is.
“You took Torao,” the rumble of a tiger, deep in Lu-ya’s throat, Conqueror’s haki cracking along the clearing, bearing upon the would-be cultists with unwavering singularity, driving them to their knees in hysterical submission. “You took what is mine,” a second voice, deeper, ethereal.
Aka who thought being kidnapped by a cult could end up fun
