Aether didn't need it, while Dainsleif wouldn't yearn for something he didn't understand to begin with. But it's fine, Aether thought. They were still on the same page.

Had she been born slightly different, had Ayaka been a person slightly to the left of who she was, maybe the thought of that would have been a burden. As it currently stood: it was an honor. Truly.
