Mark Heathcliff is at his limit.
Whether it’s the empty pit of his stomach begging for food, the pulsing headache splitting his skull open as a result of dehydration, or the inevitable realisation that nobody is coming to save him after all; Mark finds himself sinking. He spent most of his first few hours stupidly yelling, from screaming bloody murder to sobbing to pleading with that thing to cease its beguiling for just a minute, and now his voice is so hoarse that it’s barely a whisper.
”I’ll open the door,” he croaks out, “I’ll open it.”
It’s such a stretch. It’s a stretch, and yet… the silence that follows it’s the sweetest he’s ever experienced.

“I trust you,” the detective finally breaks the silence, turning to address the other. “Kaito-kun.”
There’s a warm smile on Saihara’s gentle face, a kind and saccharine sweet one that makes Momota melt like cotton candy in the rain, and he freezes when the detective looks back at him; smart, honey-golden eyes meeting the dull, unimpressive magenta of his own.
“Of course!” He chuckles, “the tension is killing me, Shuuichi. What’d you wanna ask me about?” This is why he was so anxious. Saihara’s trust in him makes his chest feel lighter, and he’s so happy to hear it, but he’s terrified. Terrified that someday he’ll make a wrong decision on the detective’s behalf, and it’ll all go to shit, and he’ll be alone.
“There’s… someone I really want to ask out.”

With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.

The world is fucked to hell. Or at least, was a good fifty something years ago. Kokichi can't really remember the exact time it happened. Sure, they grilled him on it in every history class- "The Great Tragedy! Everything was horrible but don't worry, the Future Club or whatever saved us all!"- but anyone with a brain knew that the textbooks were full of garbage, so Kokichi never exactly memorized details. Big deal, the world sucks now too! If the higher-ups actually gave a shit, the most popular reality tv show to exist wouldn't be about real teenage-adult ambiguous people killing each other for the entertainment of the audience.
Speaking of which, Kokichi finds himself head over heels for some guy who won't shut up about it.
