All in all, Charlie himself seemed to be the least surprised out of all of them when he heard about what happened.
“Todd Anderson, criminal mastermind,” he would say, grinning like a madman, for years to come. “Beat me to it!”
Todd was not at the wrong place at the wrong time, nor was he drunk, nor did he commit a felony, though he was, indeed, not yet thirty. He was twenty-seven, and he punched a cop in the face.

House waved dismissively, pocketing his wallet. “Whatever the case may be, the usual booth we get was taken.”
“It’s usually only reserved because I get there early, and put my coat down as a placeholder. You could do the same thing, you know.”

Phil smiled and then put his pumpkin in the bag. Just before he went out the curtains again, he turned around and gave Dan a small wave. Too embarrassed to be caught staring yet again, he simply looked down at the counter.
Immediately after Phil left the tent, he buried his face in his hands. That was just his luck, of course the guy of his dreams would walk into his pumpkin tent, and he made a fool of himself. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, now he would never see him again.

“Ever thought of living on the moon?” Todd asks Neil one day, when he’s on Neil’s bed. His hands are behind his head, and he looks up at the ugly popcorn ceiling. A whole lotta bumps. Much like the surface of the moon.
Neil looks over from his history essay absentmindedly. It’s half a look, only the connecting of both of their eyes to acknowledge that he heard Todd. He rustles his pages, mumbling, “Nah, can’t be a doctor on there.”

He knew he was out of his depth, however, when a pair of his best students confessed to him what they felt for each other.
This, he was not equipped to handle. He could only keep their secrets and hope.

He pushed himself off of his bed and, after a moment’s hesitation, yanked back the curtains. The grinning face of his roommate came into view, who waved at him childishly from behind the glass. He looked almost Cheshire-like. Considering this, Todd managed a disbelieving half-smile as he slid open the window.
“Neil,” he simply said, as if attempting to articulate his presence into existence, “you’re here.”
