Spider-Man is severely injured, and New York has it all on camera.
///
During what should have been a routine fight, Spidey gets his leg sliced off. Very not routine anymore. The digital age is fast; the news hits the internet within seconds, and Spidey vanishes almost as quickly. New York is left wondering where their hero went, and if he's ever coming back.
Meanwhile, Oscorp seems insistent on being as insensitive as possible to the situation, as coorperations are ought to do. Oh, and they go steal Spidey's severed limb and make a Spider-Rat without permission.
This story follows an initially media-based narrative, using a rag-tag team of internet Spidey fans as proxies to explore the reactions of New Yorkers to their hero's injury and disappearance. They're just (un)lucky enough to figure out where Spidey is hiding, and witness first hand how he's (not) coping.

Yargh. I'm gonna see if AO3 help has solutions.

Shieldmaiden and seidr user Hlaðagerðr was summoned to fight in the Asgard-Jotunheim War. She did not do it for the right or the wrong on the either side, she did it to keep her fellow warriors safe. Even if those same warriors mock and belittle her for her gender. She is her own. Besides, she was planning to leave to find her own peace anyways. She just never planned to be bringing someone along with her.
But when Hlaðagerðr saw the little jotun infant abandoned, suffering, close to death, even she is not so cruel.

But even after he wakes up, even after his recovery is underway, Hannibal seems more than willing to keep watch over him, to be as intimately close to Will without the man suspecting that when he looks at Will, he sees the possibility of family, smells the sweet scent of companionship.

It was simple. Hannibal was a murderous ship's AI that was killing off its crew, and Will was the man sent to shut it off.
Now they're a few hours from docking at Quantico Base. Will is a wreck trying to piece together the night when everything went wrong, and Hannibal might be the only thing holding him together. -
