He fully expected an argument the moment he opened his mouth, with sharp words and sharper teeth.
He braced for slurred insults, drunken bravado, maybe even a half-hearted attempt to punch him.
What he did not expect was for Chuuya to look up blearily, eyes lighting up almost immediately.
“Dazai?” Chuuya confirmed, smile spreading slowly. Deliberately. Genuinely. “Well. If it isn’t my favourite annoyance.”

Dazai swung open the door with a flourish, barging into the room with a huge smile.
“Chibi! What took you so long to wake up? I was starting to think you’d stay asleep forever!” he chirped.
Chuuya blinked at him, puzzled.
“Do I know you?”

After getting hit by an ability, Chuuya gets knocked out and stays unconscious for a few days. Dazai goes to annoy him as soon as he hears he woke up, only to realise the redhead doesn’t recognise him.
It stirs up a lot of unwanted emotions in Dazai’s chest, and the two are now forced to deal with the messy, fragile remains of their relationship they thought they left behind.

Atsushi is looking at him very hopefully. Ah, an orphan desperate for parents, even if they're just 'for now'.

When Atsushi is deaged, Dazai drops him off at Chuuya's on his day off. In the process, Chuuya learns that there was something very wrong with Atsushi's childhood and does his best to give him the care he was missing, all the while dealing with the troubling discovery that people call him 'Mama of the Port Mafia' behind his back.

“This is also new,” Murase informed Fukuzawa, gaping at the sight.
Or, Murase adopts Chuuya when he’s seven and tries to navigate this new journey with the help of his good friend Fukuzawa, fourteen year old Ranpo isn’t against having beef with a child, teenage Chuuya still manages to get a pathetic crush on Dazai and… twenty year old Dazai is really trying to date his coworker, okay?
