“Does it bother you?” Flins asks, voice low with concern.
Does it…bother Varka? Now that’s one hell of a question. If by ‘bothered’ Flins means that Varka is upset by the reminder of Flins’ ethereal otherness, his long-lived history, and all the difficulties their incompatible lifespans will surely bring upon them further down the line, then no, not in the slightest. It’s but a small price to pay for loving Flins, and Varka certainly wouldn’t want him to change anything about himself—not for Varka’s sake, nor anyone else’s.
But if by ‘bothered’ Flins is referring to Varka’s sudden newfound, all-consuming compulsion to hear him speak fae again—a rallying war cry in the midst of battle; whispers of sweet nothings in their quiet moments together; breathless gasps and moans, punctuated by screams of Varka’s name as Flins writhes in pleasure—then yes, Varka supposes it does bother him quite a bit.
Or, Varka wants Flins to speak fae to him in bed.

'His brow, damp with sweat, furrows, and his eyes flutter shut, dark lashes fanning against his cheeks and disguising the tired rings under his eyes, and his mouth falls open, part pain and part relief, and those long, fine-boned fingers press into that spot just below his clavicle, where his racing pulse is visible in the vein of his throat. He inhales, unsteady, as the energy inside the amulet she'd given him is transferred into his body, and then he exhales in a shuddering sigh as it finishes, as he pulls the withered, spent husk of metal away and offers it back to her with a sheepish, apologetic smile.
Tav feels almost voyeuristic. Like she should apologize for witnessing that.'

There was a time in his life that Gale could sleep anywhere, provided he had a good book and a space to sit down.
In Waterdeep, he might wake in his armchair or on his balcony with the weight of an ancient tome still resting in his lap, or at his desk, his cheek pressed against parchment. The smell of it, of ink and lignin, would bring him back to his senses before his eyes were fully open, and he’d recall what he’d been studying, and begin reading again.
At home, in his tower, he could do this night after night and still feel mostly rested come morning.
But he is far from his tower, and farther each day.
