"I've got a few. Why?" he says, testing the waters, not fully sure where San's coming from. Despite his attempts to keep it light, his wolf feels unsettled, unsure. San's intentions don't feel hostile exactly, but they're unreadable, and Wooyoung doesn't like what he can't read.
San's gaze holds his for a long beat, and then he smirks, that confident glint back in his eyes.

Wooyoung is silent for a few seconds before lifting his head and nodding. "Okay." He hooks his foot behind San's ankle under the table, "are you always like this?"
San is faced with the crippling need to sob and scream. Something is so so wrong with him. "Like what?"
"So... far away."
A star that exploded years ago yet still visible to humans because of the lightyears separating them. That's what San is. Something that's no longer actually here. Maybe he's never been here. Maybe existence isn't for everyone, maybe his star should have never started shining in the first place.

Then San notices the second one. A patch of red fur, barely visible beneath the black fox's body.
He's hiding him.
"The black one—Wooyoung—is a silver fox hybrid," Kellam explains. "The red one is Yeosang. Yeosang is about a year older, but Wooyoung..."
Or

Wooyoung’s been keyed up for weeks now, more insufferable than San thinks he’s been the last six years altogether, and San gets why, he does, but it doesn’t make it any less miserable to have to sit there and smell the entire fucking club on him. Worse when he has to see the red, blue, and violet lights bounce off that chain sitting around his neck, just a sliver of it visible under his vest.
His engagement ring’s easier to hide like that. He wears it the same way when he leaves to see his fiancé, and he doesn’t make any effort to hide it or the marks on his neck when he goes to see him, so San figures they’ve talked about it. Figures his fiancé's fine with it. Doesn’t understand why or how he can be, but his job’s to keep knives and bullet holes out of Wooyoung, not stick his business into who the papers are going to be calling his alpha in a month, a week.
