Mike felt violent.
This was the biggest problem about Carlton. He was perfect.
He was nice, kind and had a soft voice that matched Will's.
If Carlton was an asshole who treated Will badly, his reason to hate him would be normal. But there he was, stuck with his “instinct” and looking insane. He knew he looked insane, he felt insane.
Mike started to empathize with Joyce.

Summary
Loneliness takes many forms. Whether you’re alone in a room full of ‘friends’ or choose to distance yourself from people who follow you with blind stupidity, its void always feels the same.
No matter how untouchable you seem, at the end of the day you’re only a person, and people are fools, struggling with life. So are Aventurine and Ratio, coworkers who decide to gradually spend more and more time together.
Maybe they’ll find themselves willing to stand by each other’s side and learn to change for the better.

“You’re staring again, gambler.” Ratio snaps, flashing him a look vicious enough to carve through marble. If Aventurine were a lesser man—or a sane one—the evident disdain laced through the Veritas’s words would have sent him packing, but he just smiles softly, keeping his eyes locked unblinkingly on the doctor.
“Just admiring the view,”
To nobody’s surprise, the snarkiest man alive is also a terrible patient who's absolutely miserable to be around when he's sick. But Aventurine doesn't really have anyone else, so he can't just let the man suffer alone.
