The question is asked in the recording booth before every comeback. Sometimes it's the sound engineer with a laugh. Once it was an intern who had to forward the lyrics to the higher-ups. It's very often Changbin who drops it like a passing joke, just happy enough to have some lyrics on paper before a deadline. And it's almost always Chan, whose eyes light up and dim just as quickly when Jisung shrugs his shoulders, mutters about it being about a friend they hadn't met or about the leads from a drama he was watching.
But when Minho stays in the studio long after he was needed, melts into the hoodie Jisung could swear he had been wearing for the past four days and asks the question as though he were asking about the weather, the very walls of the recording booth begin to shatter.

Summary

“Thank you, but I’m taken,” he says, trying to offer a polite smile to maybe mask the grimace. He’s not quite sure if it works or not when Sungwon scowls.
“You don’t have to lie about it. I saw you with that group earlier,” he says, and Jisung tries not to scoff in his face.
“It’s true,” he argues, but he can tell this is about to turn into a double-sided argument really quick if he doesn’t come up with something else.
It’s then that he notices one of the bouncers—the hot, kind of mean one he’s been more or less crushing on for a couple months—leaning over the bar to ask one of the bartenders something. Perfect. “This is my boyfriend right here,” he says, reaching back blindly until his palm smacks onto warmth and his fingers curl into the shirt there. He can hear a startled sort of grunt but it’s too late to care about that as he turns and wraps his other arm around the guy just as he stands to face him. “Right Jagi?” he asks, looking right at the guy, who he’s just dragged unceremoniously into his bullshit.
