“You aren’t LISTENING to me!” Adora shouted. Turning around to face them, tears in her eyes and hands balled into fists, shaking.
Catra ran over to Adora’s side, sitting her on the ground and beginning to hug her gently, “Hey, hey it’s ok Adora.” She said, rubbing circles into Adora’s back as she started to cry.
OR
11-year-old Adora and Catra run away from Shadow Weavers home for Orphaned children after years of twisted abuse at the hands of their caretaker.
After being taken in by Angella, the two live seemingly normal lives till their junior year of high school; when Adora starts to suddenly see Shadow Weaver everywhere she goes.

Casuta didn’t know if it would be possible, as every family member had a problem, every family member had something that was wrong. So what did Casita do? Casita used the rest of her magic, even if the cracks were already there, to show them. Show them their problems. But first, Casita waited for the next day. The day after Antonio’s gift ceremony. No others than the Madrigals was supposed to see. So after Antonio’s gift ceremony, before the cracks got too much and the family couldn’t be fixed. Casita was sure, the family needed helping, and the help they would get.

“Ok. Just. I wake up and when you aren’t there, I’m not ok. I go to school and when you aren’t sitting next to me, I'm not ok. I just,” She winced. “Wow, that sounds really creepy.”
“I can read between the lines. Keep going,” Catra encouraged gently.
Adora smiled weakly. “I guess. You get me. You’re not… like other girls,” she murmured. Then panic lit her eyes. “I mean! No! Like! Not that there’s anything wrong with other girls! Like. Girls are awesome! They’re all great and feminism and whatever, I just mean-” She stopped when Catra threw her head back in that perfect squeaking laugh of hers. Adora loved that laugh more than air.
“Oh my fucking God, you’re bad at this,” Catra teased.
Adora laughed weakly. “Yeah. I am. I guess. because I never tried for anyone else. No one else understood me. Or made me feel cared for… or valued for who I was over what I could do for them… I've never wanted anyone else… not like I want you.”
Catra smiled softly, eyes full of affection. “So. How long have you been in love with me?”

Summary
Adora stumbles back, looking almost drunk. She falls back against a tree, one arm reaching out behind her to steady herself, head thrown back, panting for breath as blood covers her face and drips down her chin. She wipes her mouth with one hand, licks the mess slowly from her fingers.
“Adora, what the fuck,” Catra says, the fear obvious in her voice and yet insufficient to make her turn and run. Adora’s head rolls downward to regard her. There’s real color in her cheeks now, her eyes no longer bloodshot, recognition dawning in them as she glances between Catra's bewildered expression and mauled hand, panic rushing to take the place of the numbness that had filled her chest only minutes ago.
Adora's just your average teenager, plays football, gets good grades, well liked. Mostly. Living in an equally average, small and sleepy town. Ringed by forests, bordered by mountains, the kind of place where nothing interesting happens. Until Adora goes missing. Gone, two weeks, comes back. Comes back wrong. Still plays football, still gets good grades. Less well liked. Too good at football, too strong, too fast. Keeps to herself. Nearly bit her friend's hand off but that was like, one time.
