Initially they think it will be a nightmare, but after meeting Oscar they discover that saying goodbye is much more difficult.

Summary
She hates this. She hates that this is the scenario in which she is watching Ekko eating fruit in the most sexual way possible. Because if he hadn’t chained her to a wall, this would be prime flirting material. She would be the one making him feel uncomfortable and hot under the collar by his fruit eating. She’d watch him the whole time he ate, watch as he tried to neuter what should be a completely innocuous activity. She’d raise an eyebrow at every suggestive noise, maybe comment on his technique, even go so far as to ask him if he was trying to give her ideas. This did get a laugh from her: a single panting sound, and then she went quiet. Her waist was a heartbreaking dip to hold. She had a dot of a mole next to her spine. Her hair was long enough that she had to hold it out of the way so it wouldn’t get tangled in the knot. Lan Zhan’s touch must have been a little cold because Wei Ying’s skin rose in bumps and she huffed and Lan Zhan rested a hand on her hip. Lan Zhan was dry-mouthed, traced a line of the ribbon with her thumb. She asked Wei Ying, voice low: “And how will Wei Ying untie this, by herself?”

Summary
It starts in the Spring. Lan Xichen accidentally catches sight of Jiang Wanyin's phone and is struck by how the Jiang heir, infamously cold and aloof, tough and hardy, is giving hearts to puppies on his social media account.
From that day, Lan Xichen wants to know everything about Jiang Wanyin. He squirrels away and prepares for November 5th (or more accurately, November 6th--the Saturday), only to discover that maybe he's not the one Wanyin needs after all.
(Or: Lan Xichen falls in love quickly and suddenly, then with equal speed, misunderstands. Jiang Wanyin has to climb a building to correct him.)

Lan Xichen reads the whole letter several more times.
If he does not remember anymore - after all, almost 20 years have passed since that night - nothing is lost, he then tells himself, and before he can change his mind again, he seals the paper.

This is one of those fics that started with a single scene, (which is now the prologue,) and now I can’t stop writing more for it. :D
There are just so many good things to explore - the aftermath of the final canon events, how both sect leaders deal with their traumatic experiences in their individual ways, and how they can find something that they are personally lacking in the other...
Also, ghostly appearances, a night hunt gone wrong, the complications of old and new family ties and many small moments of tentative care.Bookmarked by eIectricghost
