Sometimes she appears when he’s pushing too hard, or staying up too late, or pretending exhaustion is a personality trait instead of a symptom of extreme sleep-deprivation.
He’s halfway through his third cup of coffee at two in the morning, sitting on Liam’s guest bed, when he feels it— the weight of being watched— a feeling that isn’t so sudden anymore. It settles slowly, like pressure at the base of his skull. Familiar. Predictable.

"Please don't make me do this," Liam says, pleads. He knows that if he has to drop down to his knees and beg for this to work, he would. The slight tremble in his voice is proof enough.
Theo's eyes remain blank as he stares back silently, and the cold reality of the situation that's been creeping in sets into Liam's stomach completely. It’s a heavy, incessant sort of thing, the kind of feeling that eventually seeps into every inch of Liam’s body and feels like it’s draining something out of him.
Liam’s jaw clenches as he squares his shoulders.

Stiles’s entire brain just looped: legs, legs, thighs, abs, thighs, hips, oh my God, hips.
Theo leaned against the doorframe like he knew exactly what kind of meltdown he was causing, smirk curling slow and lethal across his mouth. “What?” he asked, faux-casual, head tilting like he didn’t already know the answer.
Stiles opened his mouth. Nothing came out. He made a noise. A wheeze? A squeak? Not his proudest moment.
Theo’s smirk deepened. “Cat got your tongue, Stilinski?”
Stiles dragged a hand down his face. “No, no, nope, I’m fine, I’m… okay, that’s a lie, I’m not fine. What the hell, Raeken? What are you—how are you—what—skirt? Fishnets?—I—”
Words failed him completely.
Theo just arched a brow, waiting, letting Stiles tie himself into knots. His skirt shifted again as he pushed off the doorway, the fabric brushing his thighs, and Stiles’s entire nervous system screamed at him to touch.

‘Can that be you?’ Is the unspoken question Theo pleads with himself to ask but he just can’t get the words out.
But then Liam smiles and winds his fingers around his wrist again before pulling Theo onto the bed beside him, and he thinks that maybe Liam heard the question anyways.

They settle across the mattress behind him, causing his shirt to ride up and show off a sliver of tummy peeking out above the waistband of his jeans where they’re slung low on his hips. Liam’s heart stutters in his chest when he realizes the boxers he’s wearing are Liam’s. “You’re welcome.”
